Pucker Ridge Farm Full service thoroughbred farm in the adirondacks. Pucker Ridge Farm is a thoroughbred located off of exit 23 of I-87.

We specialize in the care of brood mares and their foals. Services include but are not limited to, hay, grain, group or individual turnout, and foal delivery. With roughly 40 animals on premises, horses are the primary focus and are able to receive personal attention.

THE DATES!

The cost for an adult ticket is $25/session or pre-pay $75 for the 4-demo series with VENMO
([email protected]), cash on the door, or check.
Proceeds will benefit horse education for local youth.
Horse lovers 16 and under are welcome at no charge!
Youth riders and young trainers ages 17 - 21 are welcome at $15 a session, or the 4-sessions pre-paid at $48.

DAILY SCHEDULE:
Arrive from 9:00 - 9:30 / Please be in seats (provided) no later than 9:45
9:45 - 10:00
10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
LUNCH BREAK 12:30 - 1:30
1:30 - 3:30 PM

The focus will be on ground work and the starting of two yearling colts (“Mercy” and “Selfie”) and a 2-year-old, old un-started Thoroughbred filly (“Embrace”) that reside at Pucker Ridge Farm.
The 4-demonstration series will focus on the progression of the training process for these horses. OTTB retraining skills will also be addressed by Leslie. Foundation work will include stopping and starting, standing and backing up, lateral / longitudinal flexion preparations, turning both directions, and leading up freely, and other foundation elements.
Spectators will learn skills that may be useful on the horses they have at home.

Background on the Coach / Trainer.
*Leslie Desmond is lifelong horse trainer and multi-discipline instructor. She is best known as a 'coach's coach' for horse trainers and riding instructors who want to learn how to improve their feel and timing with horses, and work with less pressure.
For the last 25 years, Desmond's International School of Horsemanship, brought her to clients and their horses in the USA, Canada, central Europe, Scandinavia and the UK.
Earlier, Desmond ran two riding school in New Marlborough Massachusetts (1984-1990) and Novato, California (1991-1996).
In 1999, she co-author and publisher of Bill Dorrance's classic horse training manual, "True Horsemanship Through Feel". Other educational publications include. "American Horsemanship for Young & Old" a 3-Vol. DVD series by and for young riders and trainers; and "Horse Handling and Riding Through Feel" a10-CD audio book collection (102 tracks).
Currently, she produces educational content for http://www.feelofahorse.com and will offer online coaching from now on.
Leslie's "day job" includes writing horse books, and re-conditioning and schooling horses that benefit from basic training, rest and rehab between homes.
