Well, it's great weather for chili...but not CHILLY dogs! 🥶

We will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC on TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, due to the sub-freezing temperatures. DON'T WORRY--All animals are being cared for during this time (just like we do every day of the year). We will be keeping an eye on the weather the rest of the week and promise to keep you posted of our hours as the week progresses.

SAFETY is a top priority--for animals and people. No reason to get out in these sub-freezing temperatures unless it's absolutely necessary. Stay safe, and stay warm! We'll see you soon! 🐾❤️

"Shark Boy" and "Lava Girl" were so happy to meet everyone at the grand opening of Tractor Supply in Warrensburg today! 🦮🐾❤️

As you can see, "Shark Boy" and "Lava Girl" are great with other dogs, children and mules! ❤️🐾

Join us today at the Warrensburg Tractor Supply for their grand opening!! Meet some of our adoptable pets while you’re there! Ribbon-cutting is at 11 AM. Will be there for a couple of hours – – let’s welcome them to town and maybe you can meet your new best friend!

Hi, I'm Cedar! I am a suspected adult medium Australian Kelpie mix. Despite my breed, I have moderate energy levels. I'm a sweet, gentle girl who loves the company of people. I may not be your best friend right away, but it doesn't take me long at all to warm up. My history is unknown, but shelter staff believe my full personality will shine through once I transition to a home environment. I'm decent on leash and cooperative, so basic manners will be a breeze for me to learn. I just want to find my people and be with them. I am available to meet other dogs.

The New Year is approaching and with the celebrations comes fireworks! We are excited to begin 2025 here at the shelter, but we don't want you to start the year off by missing your furry friends! Here are some things you can do BEFORE New Year's Eve to ensure your pet is safe and secure:

- Use a permanent marker to write your phone number on the inside of your dog's collar
- If your dog is microchipped, make sure your contact information is up to date
- If you're dog takes situational anxiety medication make sure the prescription is up to date
- Locate your anxious dog's thunder jacket
- Make sure everyone in the house knows the protocol for letting the dog outside or keeping them in during celebrations

Hi, I'm Trombone! I am a medium adult American Pit Bull Terrier mix. I am a silly goofy boy with moderate energy levels. I am socially awkward with dogs, but would do very well in a home with another confident, stable dog. I'm not so great with cats though. I am a snack away from being your best friend! Hi, my name is Tank! I am a large adult Pit Bull, and I am incredibly well-mannered. I had a foster lined up to adopt me because I'm so awesome, but due to unfortunate circumstances beyond anyone's control they had to change their plans. They said I was the perfect good boy and would make anyone a very good pet (aside from eating some yummy chickens). Volunteers love taking me on Dog's Day Out adventures for pup cups and long walks with consistent five star ratings on my report cards.
