Attn lower level riders!!

We are looking into the 9/1 (Labor Day Monday) A Jump Above show! If you think you may be interested, please reach out to any of our trainers for info!

We are prioritizing the small ring riders (poles through 2’3) for this show. The riders who don’t get out as often as our point chasing riders. Those riders get the first available spots.

I’m sure this will fill fast, so let us know!!

We would like to remind everyone that the barn closes at 1500 tomorrow while we say goodbye to one of our senior citizens.

Please try to come out earlier in the day so we can make the afternoon/evening run as smoothly as possible with as little chaos as possible.
This is a difficult time for both the family and the barn, and we appreciate everyone working with us.

Yet another great camp week underway - we have a few spots remaining in our eventing camp, as well as a few spots remaining in our last horsemanship camp at the end of summer. All other camps are filled! If you want to get your kid enrolled for final kids camp, the dates are 8/4-8/8.

Inquire for more info!

LESSONS TODAY ARE CANCELED

However, those of you who own or lease, you’re welcome to come out and play in the snow (arena please, since you can’t see the ground in the field) and NO LUNGING.

Driveway is as clear as it can be, considering it’s gravel, please drive and park with caution. Use common sense while riding, the snow takes a lot out of the horses, please ride responsibly and check for “high heels” often.

Yea yea yea, it’s been a while…but we’re back at it!!

Congrats to Jade on being rider of the month for November! Jade has been riding at Sleipnir Stables for a little over 2 years. Jade is a team player and is always willing to do whatever is asked. She shows up and gives 100% every day. She will ride whatever and will do whatever is needed both in and out of the saddle. Jade just finished her first season of showing on the rated circuit and has some great goals for next season. She has been a great addition to the program. She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. There are not enough nice things to say. Congrats on this well earned accolade.

Let’s play a little game. Guess the breeds!!

That’s a wrap for Winston National!

Our trainers Maggie Griffith and Charlotte Crump Williams took out a small group this week, but small or not, the family stood strong.

Day one opened with Jade and Inny taking a first and second in the .65, Kinsey on Gin and Jade each winning one of their .80 trips, and Jeannie and her boy Cairo taking 6th in both of their .80 trips, with 13 and 14 riders in each .80

Saturday saw to Jade pulling 3rd in both her .65 and .80’s rounds and Kinsey taking a 2nd in the .80, with Jeannie just out of the ribbons.

Today’s Classic saw Jeannie finishing 2nd and high up in the money with a gorgeous double clear (only one of two), and Kinsey finishing just out of the money.

We couldn’t be more proud of our riders and how they cheer each other on, lift each other up, and step in to help each other out. We are truly blessed to have such a family environment amongst our riders.

Each outing is a learning experience, and since shows are not about ribbons and prizes, we love that our riders are clearly in it for the horses, the learning and the family.

Thank you to our riders and their support systems who make every outing a fun event. Congratulations!!!

For everyone’s peace of mind, 2245 and full perimeter check complete. No major downed trees at this time, and all fences up and in tact. All horses accounted for.
Hope everyone else has fared well.

Riders attending Eventing Camp (or parts of)

Here is our current itinerary -

Monday NO CAMP

Tuesday - What is eventing? An introduction to the world of eventing and the three phases. We will discuss what each phase entails, and what we look for in all three phases. Riding will include a dressage based warmup, pattern work, and striding work around a small course.

Wednesday- we will haul out for cross country schooling, for height-appropriate work for each rider, to help prep for the competition. Trailer slots go to camp participants first, other availability to join for the day is on a first come basis.

Thursday- Holly Leasor will be coming in to teach a dressage lesson to our riders. Priority goes to those doing the full week of camp, riders outside of camp can lesson on a first come basis for open slots. Riders will focus on back to front riding and proper use of aids to encourage proper functionality for dressage.

Friday - we will do a run-through of the dressage tests for each rider, as well as balance exercises both in the ring and the field. It will be an easy riding day, and then we’ll be loading up and shipping down to Lexington. Riders should arrive to camp with all their show and overnight gear.
Friday afternoon/evening we will be settling the horses in at the Horse Center, and checking out our competition arenas. We will go over everything needed for Saturday, then head out and grab dinner, before performing night check and settling into our hotels.

Saturday - competition day. All riders will get to compete at the Jumper Derby hosted by Eventing In Virginia and show off what they’ve learned throughout the week.

LEXINGTON - all riders are responsible for their own horses - feeding, watering, stall cleaning, exercising, prepping and competing. We will work as a team, but remember that your horse is your responsibility.

Any riders not signed up for the camp week that would like to participate in our cross country outing, dressage lesson or competition should reach out ASAP as those spots are limited.
