I spent last week in Florida at Chi University for my final ‘in person’ acupuncture class and final exams (hands on horse, hands on dog, and 200 question written). I’m happy to say I’ve officially completed the mixed animal acupuncture course! 🤩

Photos compliments of Chi University. ☺️

I’m back in Florida for round 2 of acupuncture training. I’m spending the morning reviewing meridians, studying the 60 command points, and working on my case study. I’ll be at Chi University this afternoon and all day tomorrow reviewing points on live animals with instructors. (And loving my very cute air b&b!)

This horse was too painful to adjust (instant bucking/kicking), so we tried some electro acupuncture. After the treatment they were much more comfortable and I was able to follow up with an adjustment. 🙌🤩

This week has been crazy!! My husband left last week for a work trip that was supposed to last 1-2 days, and turned into 5! 🫣 Gotta love construction! Turns out managing a farm, 3 kids and a job solo makes one less efficient! 🤪 I think I have officially caught up on call backs, texts and emails. If you’ve reached out recently and have not heard from me - please try again! Thank you for supporting our chaos! 🤩💕

Busy season is officially here!! Please, please start planning ahead! April is pretty full and May is filling up. Some of my bigger barns have their appointments booked through July! If you have specific timing needs, get your appointments on the books now!

As always THANK YOU for keeping me busy and fulfilled! ☺️🐾🐴💕

My Mom’s dog, Branson, got to help me learn canine points this morning. He didn’t think this was a great idea, until he found out he got a cheerio for each point. Then life was good. 🤣☺️🐾💕

Sorry if it’s been a little quiet! I’ve been keeping busy with work, kiddos and trying to stay on top of my acupuncture course! In case anyone was wondering: I try to read at least 21 pages/night and watch 1-2 hours of lecture/day - plus reviewing points on live animals (I try to really focus on 2/12 meridians each week). It’s a lot of information but so useful too!! I know some of you have noted that I’m checking tongue color, pulse quality and scanning diagnostic points as part of my examine (when time allows). I’m also starting to do some needling on patients (again, when time allows and case by case basis). You’ll be seeing more and more acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine being integrated into my cases. 🤩

It’s that time of year again! If you’re not familiar: I work at Fanduel/Fairmount during the race season drug testing horses. If you have interest in working as an assistant in the detention barn, we are officially hiring. Shifts are Tuesday afternoons 1p and Saturday evenings 7:30p April 16-November 16. Pay is per shift (typically about 4-5 hours), and is 1099 work (you’re responsible for taxes). A typical shift: help check horses into the barn (check microchip or tattoo), make sure water buckets are clean and full, monitor cool down time and help collect urine samples (hang out in stall with assigned horse to catch), and package samples. It’s not terribly hard work, but very important. We have a pretty good group and try to make it fun. If interested email Brian: [email protected]. I do not have any other involvement in the hiring process, although I’m happy to answer questions. Thank you for considering!!

I’m failing miserably at taking pictures, as it’s such an intensive learning environment, but my final day at Chi University has been spent learning more canine acupuncture points. Time to process, formulate a study plan and start helping some patients! 😊 (Our adorable patient from our canine lab this morning 🐕 💕).

Day 3 at Chi University: I didn’t take any new pictures. 🫣But it was a very full day of equine point labs and lectures. I have a list of horses in my head that I know would benefit from acupuncture! 🐴 I’m also considering bringing back some herbal formulas for body sore and neck sore horses. Be sure to ask me about that, if you think your horse could benefit. 💕 🤯 🤗

Day 2 of Chi: I started the day with a Tai-ji Quan Class (think slow, controlled martial arts like movements), followed by 4.5 hours of canine point lab, then 4 hours of lecture, and ended the night with dinner and dance entertainment. 🤗 My 🧠 is FULL, but I’m so excited about what I’m bringing back. 💪

Day 1 was very busy! 4.5 hours hands on horse lab: learning points, scanning and needling techniques followed by 4 hours of lecture. 🤯 Over lunch I did some shopping and have the basics to get started! I also spoke with the main instructor, Dr. Xie, regarding my own dog, who was just diagnosed with lymphoma and have some Chinese herbal medications to see if I can lower his steroid dose a little quicker, and keep him comfortable with fewer side effects. (Along with acupuncture, of course!) 🐕 Are any of you interested in learning more about herbal medications? 👀
