My name is Amy, I am the sole owner of Pups Prairie. Here is my story.
I have always had a love for animals. I got my first dog in November 1998. She was a gorgeous Black Cocker Spaniel/ Basset Hound, named Gabby. She was the best and worst of both breeds. She was loving, devotional, mouthy and smelly! She had reactions to vaccines, so no groomers would take her. So my dad showed me how to use dog clippers and my mom showed me how to care for her properly, from smelly ears to basset toes.
In 2003 I purchased my first set of breeding Papillons. We were blessed with 2 litters before I decided to retire them due to my females health issues. In 2004, my parents opened up Ruff Inn Kennel & Pet Resort, a dog and cat boarding facility. In 2005, I got a job working at Pet Supplies Plus, where I learned about pet nutrition and was the youngest Store Assistant at the age 18. This job only lasted 6 months, because Ruff Inn Kennel was running full swing and a Doggie Daycare was needed. So I began caring for a loving Pitbull with destructive separation anxiety.
In 2006, I got married and we decided to have a family. As our family grew, so did our household. In 2009, we became a foster home for dogs in the local shelter, who needed more interactions with pets and people. So, we began adding to our small family.
