Today we said No More Weary Trails and Happy Tails to Norman and Nancy. They arrived back in November found dumped on the side of the road at 6-8 wks of age and weighing 1.5 lbs. They overcame being failure to thrive, upper respiratory infections, Sarcoptic mange, coccidia and pneumonia. They are now 9&10 pounds 16 weeks old and on their way to our rescue partner.
Glad to have been a part of their Journey to Forever!

We have completed our numbers for 2024.

Our number for last year's intakes is 46 dogs.
We assisted with 5 emergency vet bills for dogs owned not in rescue.
We had 3 adoptions, 2 deaths and all others were transfers.

This is about half of what we did last year, because we had to adjust the number that could be here to only 3 rescues at one time and my injury to my leg which made it a little difficult to care for everyone.

A big thank you to all of you who donated to help save all these dogs!

Today we said No More Weary Trails and Happy Tails to the Christmas Bunch. As they went to our rescue partner for better options for adoption.

Sadly during transport, Nikolaus, suffocated in a puppy pile. We are very saddened by this, but it is always a possibility when transporting puppies who dog pile.
I was also sad to find that one of the barn cats passed away during the night.

It has been a rough 5 months here and I thought it is time for something fun.
Let's play a little game called name the product

I received a call yesterday about a newborn goat rejected by its mama. Found by the owner's neighbor almost frozen to the ground. I had hopes that maybe Glory, my goat who lost her baby, would take on this doeling. Sadly, she rejected her too. However, she has found love and acceptance from me, is eating from a bottle and has a lot of protectors.
Named after the person who saved her from freezing, welcome Jody to the farm family.

Glory update: She went into labor around 9:30pm by 11:30 she only had the hooves out and things went badly. I pulled the baby because it was dead. She has not had any other kids at the time of this post, Tuesday morning at 8:20am.
I used an old picture of her as it's been a very long and rough night.

UPDATE: Accepted by our rescue partner in Illinois.

Look who is 6 weeks old today! They lost their mama 3 days after birth to parvo and K9 Herpes. They tested positive for both the day their mama died. It was tough, but they pulled through. They lost one sibling 10 days ago to a blood clot in the lungs an after result of K9 Herpes.
There are 5 in their group now and they weigh in the 5lb range. They are eating softened kibble now and thriving. However they need another rescue to go to for proper socialization and adoption options.
If you have room for these sweet Christmas Miracles, I would be very grateful.
Updated with pics of Mom she was 33lbs, Dad is unknown.

Glory is still very pregnant and due any time between now and 10 days, best guess.
Any guesses on when she will kid and how many she will have? My vet guesses 3 kids I say 2. I think she will kid in 4 days on the 16th of Jan.

My heart is broken as I held Noel as she passed away. Unfortunately the viruses did damage to her little body that she could not recover from.
I am so sorry Noel, but you get to be with your mom, Olivia, now.

Glory has been hiding a little secret. She is the goat found abandoned on the side of the road and was very sick back in August. I have been suspecting her secret for the past month. Can you guess her secret?

Edit: All my males are fixed so this happened right around the time she was rescued. I have no clue who dad might be or how big. We are keeping a very close watch on her. Being a very skittish goat, and not knowing how big the male is, make for a possibly very dangerous delivery. Praying for a safe delivery.
