This weeks trash pick up is confusing but to clarify Georgetown trash will get picked up on Thursday this week. Trash and recycling will slide to Saturday. Hope this helps.

Was just informed that even though tomorrow, July 3rd is a city holiday, all trash and recycling will be picked up as per regular schedule.

Can I give a shout out to the West End Trader Joe’s! We’re all doing our best to self quarantine but sometimes you have to go to the grocery and that is the one where I feel safest! They have implemented so many precautions that I can’t even begin to list them. Feel free to reach out with any questions and please stay safe and sane!

Neighbors - Safeway has decided to have shopping for seniors , pregnant women and children with compromised immune systems from 7am to 9am on Tuesdays and Thursday’s, starting tomorrow.

For those who know me my weakness is chocolate chip cookies. Quite a few Georgetown places on this list. For what it’s worth, Wisemullers Deli, Stachowskis and Patisserie Poupon are some of my faves. We may need to do a cookie tasting. Will keep you posted.

The new Dent Place Market has opened and what a change. They’re still working with vendors and stocking but so far it’s a great selection of high end and local goodies. You can get fixings for dinner or impromptu party. Right now they have Compass Coffee and Bullfrog Bagels for weekday breakfast and plan to have bigger brunch spreads for the weekends. Stop in and say hi to the new owner. He’s local and looking forward to being part of the community.

Holiday trees and greenery will be collected between January 14 and February 2. Residents in DPW-serviced households should place their trees and greenery where their trash and recyclables are normally collected. Trees and greenery collected during these three weeks (and those brought to the Fort Totten and Benning Road transfer stations) will be composted and made available to residents for free. Please remove all ornaments and lights; do not put trees and greenery in a bag. After February 2, place holiday trees and greenery where your trash is collected. They will be picked up with your trash as space in our trucks permits. Unfortunately, trees and greenery collected after February 2 will not be composted.
