Cats are naturally curious, they often get into things they shouldn't and for this reason, pet owners are usually fairly thorough when it comes to keeping cleaning products, poisonous plants and foods (ie: lilies, onions and garlic) out of sight.
But occasionally, by no fault of their own, our furbuddies are offered a fun, colorful, soft new toy, that could ultimately kill them.
These fuzzy little pom poms are very intriguing to cats, most of whom will simply bat them about, but some.... will eat them. (yes they can, and will) What they cannot regurgitate may get stuck in their intestines, often needing surgery to remove. By the time we realize there is an issue, they've stopped eating, they're walking poorly, and crying in pain. At this point their kidneys may have stopped functioning properly, and their gut is in bad shape and the outlook.... not good.
PLEASE, do not let your kitty have these seemingly innocent little fuzz balls (or any other small toy or object they can swallow). Scour your home for things on the floor, pen caps, toothpaste caps, gumbands etc...
How do I know this? ...... sadly, experience.
Do not hesitate to visit your vet or vet ER if you suspect your pet (cat, dog or other) has ingested something dangerous! It could save their lives.
