Reflecting on a Year of Growth and Looking Ahead -

As the new Executive Director, I am filled with gratitude as I reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared this year at Common Good City Farm. This role is a full circle moment for me—one of my earliest memories is visiting a community garden, where I tasted a green bean fresh off the plant a...

We have a year-end need of $45,000 that we must meet before the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve. This funding is absolutely critical in allowing us to deliver strong programs and cover key operating targets. Reaching our goal this year is about ensuring we have the resources we need to cont...

As we wrap up our 2024 programming, we want to celebrate the folks that drive our mission. This work and any of our success happens due to so many community members, staff, and partners who put in the time and lay the groundwork.

Wes, Farm Educator: “I feel very grateful to be aligned with how we have a direct impact on feeding a community directly impacted by oppression and societal neglect. I look forward to sharing this knowledge and access to food with as many people as possible and blessed to be able to do so daily.”

As we wrap up our 2024 programming, we want to celebrate the folks that drive our mission. This work and any of our success happens due to so many community members, staff, and partners who put in the time and lay the groundwork.

We asked our staff the question: What does doing this work mean to you now?

Joya, Executive Director:
“Having the opportunity to strategize ways of serving the community and making people feel better through healthy food, through gathering and community, and being part of the greater good. Continuing to be a steward of the land and utilize regenerative practices honors the indigenous and those that came before us.”

As 2024 comes to a close we want to recognize the folks putting in the groundwork each year:

We asked our staff the question what does this work mean to you and why now?

Ani, Community Engagement Manager:
“Doing this work holds profound meaning for me, both personally and collectively. For the past eight years, I’ve lived in this community, raising my children and building a life rooted in care, value, and connection. This has been more than a home—it has been a space where my commitment to servant leadership has flourished. This community has offered fertile ground for me to grow, trust, and expand in ways I could have only hoped for. The trust and resources afforded to me to bridge gaps and build connections have been nothing short of an honor. Together, we’ve navigated projects that engage our neighbors, expand resources, and create opportunities that reflect the care and intention this community deserves. This work, especially through Common Good, feels divinely orchestrated—a seamless alignment of my natural efforts, my core values, and my life’s trajectory up to this point. I’ve taken a nontraditional route, coming to this work through direct community care and serving as a bridge between abstract ideas of service and tangible, impactful actions. To engage in such meaningful work, in real time, is a profound privilege. It’s a way to honor the trust placed in me, amplify the collective voice of our community, and continue building pathways of care, equity, and opportunity for us all. I’m immensely grateful to serve in this capacity and to align with work that embodies the values I hold closest to my heart.”

As we wrap up our 2024 programming, we want to celebrate the folks that drive our mission. This work and any of our success happens due to so many community members, staff, and partners who put in the time and lay the groundwork.

We asked our staff the question: What does doing this work mean to you now?

Emily, Director of Programs:
“Working with Common Good City Farm for over 10 years, I have had the opportunity to get to know so many members of our community. It is so important to me to continue to build those relationships with neighbors and with our community youth, many who I have seen in our programming year after year. Making food with the youth program and sharing food I’ve made at our community events are highlights for me! It’s meaningful to me that we’ve continued to build ways we can meet the needs of our neighbors; which is a big part of promoting positive changes in the food system.”

We asked our staff the question: What does doing this work mean to you now?

Skye, Market Manager:
“I was intentional in choosing to work in the food/environmental (justice) realm some years ago. I pivoted into this work because I felt called to it; called into using food and nature as a medium for healing and loving. I become more and more aligned with this intention each day I do this work, which means I’m always healing and loving myself and my community. It feels very much exactly where I’m supposed to be!”

Common Good City Farm, and community partners are launching a community pantry at LeDroit Park on Friday, November 22 alongside our annual Thanksfest food giveaway.

The pantry will operate on a donation basis, where anyone can contribute food and items, and those in need can freely take what’s available.

We’re seeking funds to stock the pantry, and to support the Thanksfest and HolidayFest which provide food to our community. With your support, we can Les this vital resource running through the off seasons and beyond. Donations will directly fund these efforts.
