🐾 October is National Pet Wellness Month! 🐶🐱

At Union Veterinary Clinic (UVC), we believe keeping pets healthy is just as important as helping them when they're sick!

🦷 Monitor dental health

🩺 Check weight, nutrition, and overall wellness

🐾 BIG HEART. SMALL BIZ. ALL DC. ❤️
We're still smiling about our recent visit from the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD)! 📸🐶🐱

We were thrilled to welcome DSLBD to Union Veterinary Clinic to celebrate what makes small, independent businesses so special — the people, the passion, and the communities we serve!

As an independent, family- and woman-owned veterinary clinic, we're proud to have been part of the DC small business community since 2002, providing compassionate care to the pets and families who make our city so special.

From our amazing team to our adorable four-legged patients, everyone helped make this visit memorable!

A huge thank-you to DSLBD for shining a spotlight on local businesses like ours and recognizing the important role we play in our communities.

When you support Union Veterinary Clinic, you're supporting a DC small business that puts pets, people, and community first. ❤️

Enjoy a few behind-the-scenes photos from the visit! 📸

Did you know that 1 in 3 pets will become lost at some point in their lifetime? 😢

At Union Veterinary Clinic (UVC), we believe every pet deserves the best chance of finding their way home if they ever get lost. That's why we encourage pet parents to microchip their furry family members!

📊 The numbers speak for themselves!

🐶 Dogs: More than 52% of microchipped dogs entering shelters were reunited with their families, compared to just 22% of dogs without microchips.

🐱 Cats: More than 38% of microchipped cats were reunited with their families, compared to less than 2% of cats without microchips.

💉 Microchipping is quick, simple, and can be done during a routine wellness visit or spay/neuter surgery!

At UVC, we use HomeAgain ISO-compliant microchips, which also meet microchip requirements for entry into many countries. 🌎✈️

🚨 IMPORTANT: A microchip only works if your contact information is registered and up to date! Be sure to register your pet's microchip and update your information whenever you move or change phone numbers.

❤️ A few minutes today could make all the difference if your pet ever goes missing.

📅 Schedule your pet's microchipping appointment at UVC today!

🦷🐾 Dental Cleanings & Extractions at UVC: How Does It Work?

Dental care is an important part of your pet’s overall health! At Union Veterinary Clinic, we perform dental cleanings and tooth extractions Monday through Thursday.

If your pet needs a dental procedure, here are a few things to know:

🗓️ Schedule early. Dental appointments can be booked through our front office team. Availability is limited, and we’re often booked more than a month in advance, so we recommend reserving your preferred day as soon as possible.

💳 A deposit is required to reserve your pet’s appointment. The deposit is applied toward the cost of the dental procedure. Please ask our team about cancellation and rescheduling requirements when booking.

🩺 Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is required. All pets must have bloodwork completed within 3 months of their dental procedure to help determine whether general anesthesia is a safe option.

🍽️ Dental cleanings are performed under anesthesia. Pets should begin fasting at 8 p.m. the night before their procedure. Water is permitted.

📋 Need an earlier appointment? Ask to be added to our Dental Waiting List. If an earlier appointment becomes available due to a cancellation, we’ll give you a call.

Have questions about scheduling, estimates, bloodwork, or your pet’s dental care? Our UVC team is happy to help!
