Miss Lola in our private lesson program working on her “leave it” and getting more comfortable in busy environments with lots of people! Lola and her family continue to be superstars who love to train. 💜
Our next hurdle is about human anxiety—as it often is! Training purposefully in large distractions allows us to trust our training and our dogs when we are inevitably not as purposeful.

Meet Carley!
Carley is a bench bred/showline lab in our private freedom program! She is learning manners including how to greet people calmly and walk without pulling on the leash. Carley is a great dog, she just needs some impulse control. Welcome to the Dog Wizard family, Carley! ✨🐶

Holly graduated!! 🎉 🎓

Holly is a mixed breed dog in our Freedom program to work on her manners, especially when out on walks around other dogs. Holly’s family has been so dedicated to her training and constantly gushing compliments on how smart Holly is—and they’re right! Holly now walks beautifully on the leash and has made huge strides in her engagement with her people and manners in general.
Holly will be continuing her training with us at The Dog Wizard to work towards becoming a psychiatric service dog. That’s hard work, and takes a special kind of dog, but we’re excited and proud to be part of their journey.

Nellie graduated!! 🎓

One of the most fearful dogs I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, Nellie was practically afraid of her own shadow. Anything and everything sent her into a panic of barking and running. Living on a busy street didn’t help and Nellie was in a constant state of extreme stress.

With a combination of medication and training, Nellie can now walk down the street with confidence and her owner, Ana, has the skills to teach Nellie that the world is not so bad. Ana has seen a huge difference in Nellie’s fearfulness from the start of training and recognizes that the small wins are huge wins. This kind of fear takes a long time to undo and there’s no rushing it, but Ana is committed to Nellie and changing her life—and we are too!

It’s Tanner’s last day here with us!
Tanner is ADOPTABLE through Compact Canine Rescue!
This guy is a total sweetheart and just wants a lap to cuddle up in and a friend to play with. Tanner is dog and cat friendly! Although a little wary of men, he is willing to try—as you can see in this video! We’re so happy to have worked with Compact Canine and the We Rate Dogs Foundation to get Tanner started out on the right foot.

Look who graduated our Advanced Obedience Class! These 3 cuties! Tatum, Parker, and Teo! They came to us to work on Tatum’s barking and lunging at everyone and everything and Parker was starting to pick up some of her bad habits! Like many households with multiple dogs these guys were getting protective of their food as well.

Ally, Jack, and Danny worked super hard and we couldn’t be prouder of them! Now they can bring these three out to coffee shops and breweries without having to worry about any outbursts and in the rare event, this happens, they know exactly what to do! Congratulations! We hope you have many fun adventures with your fur babies in your future! See you at Support Class!

Frank The Dog graduated! 🎓

His owners, Andrew and Kelly, just finished our private Freedom program! Their best friend was running their lives, dictating what decorations they could have (intact), where they would walk, and when he wanted to listen. Frank was also a pretty insecure dog and would react or bark when unsure of a person or dog.

After training, Andrew and Kelly are able to communicate with Frank in a way that is clear and concise, and have learned how to read Frank’s body language to tell how he is really feeling about a situation. With a stubborn, strong dog like Frank who is difficult to motivate, it’s all about being more patient and consistent than he is. Better communication shows Frank that they are in control, which makes him feel safer in uncomfortable situations.

Meet Jellybean!
