A friend is looking to rehome his precious Old English Sheepdog! My goodness, look how adorable he is! He’s a bit naked now, but thankfully if you’re following this page, you know a groomer who knows some awesome groomers in the area if he happens to be a bit out of my weight range. This is his post-

**1 year old Old English Sheepdog. Looking for a forever home. Located in Peoria IL.

Ragnar is a very sweet, energetic boy. He loves to play and is full of love! He is good with other dogs, but hasn’t been around cats. Loves people but has little exposure to kids under 9. This was a tough decision to make, but with our busy schedule we believe he deserves a home that will fulfill all of his needs.
On a side note, I gave him a bath a couple weeks ago and tried and failed to dry and brush his fur properly. When I took him to get groomed the other day, he had a lot of knots and they recommended we shave his fur, hence the short hair in some of these pics (thats how he currently looks). It’ll grow back! Till then he looks like… not an old English sheep dog haha still very cute and energetic

It just wasn’t the right time, for several reasons, unfortunately. Help me help them!

By far the most difficult part of this job is saying goodbye…Jersey has been coming to see me every six weeks almost from the beginning, and she will always have a special place in my heart. I’ll miss singing (badly) Jersey Girl to you while giving you your spa day, and waiting patiently for “loves”, which you always withheld until your collar was back on and you knew it was time for mama to come pick you up…silly girl. Rest easy, Jersey girl 💔

Just a reminder, the Lucky Penny will never charge a late cancellation fee for weather related issues, including this ridiculous cold! I might not be able to guarantee a quick reschedule date, but I’ll do my best to get you in as soon as possible. Nothing is more important to me than my little pups and their moms and dads, so please don’t risk going out in this weather if you feel it’s unsafe at all. As of now, I plan on being open, but I work 20 seconds away from my house, so don’t let that influence your decision at all! Stay warm everyone!

I wasn’t receiving texts for some reason, so if anyone tried texting last night or this morning, I didn’t get it! I did get about three notices saying a text couldn’t be delivered, and it’s driving me crazy not knowing who it was lol!

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING PRICE INCREASE!
Firstly, I want to wish everyone a very happy New Year! 2025…my goodness. That sounded like such a crazy, futuristic year back when we were younger lol! I mean, Conan hasn’t been able to do his “in the year 2000” segment for 25 YEARS! And I want to thank each and every one of you for the trust you’ve shown in me these past couple of years, and for allowing me to be a small part of your amazing pups’ lives!
I have always prided myself with offering affordable grooming by keeping my overhead low, which means I can charge less than most one on one salons. However, in the two years since I’ve been open, that overhead has increased by quite a bit. My $60 shampoo now costs $78, and that’s just the basic! And utilities? I’m sure you all know how much those have increased, yikes! And unfortunately all this means I have to raise my prices for the first time since opening my doors 😞
Prices will still be determined by breed, size, condition and time spent on each session, but I’m trying to keep most increases $5 and under. I will still offer specialized one on one grooming sessions in a low stress environment, obviously…and I will keep my promise to treat your baby like my own while they are in my care. I hope everyone understands that this increase is necessary to remain in business, as much as I hate it! I will do my best to let everyone know before their next visit, but this will also serve as an additional notice, since I also hate those surprise price increases!
So all that being said, I can’t wait to see you all in this futuristic year lol! Sometimes I can’t believe how lucky I am to have a job that I actually love, working with the best furbabies in the world! Happy New Year from the Lucky Penny!!

I swear, I have the best clients ever! I just wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who has thought of me this Christmas! There have been quite a few sweet treats and gifts of food, which means my clients know me very well lol! It makes me smile to know they are thinking of me, even though I’ve been just a small part of their lives this year. But the best gift is trusting me with your babies and bringing them back to me all year! You all are the best!

Suspect is a very sweet doodle who occasionally outsmarts her humans and escapes her fenced yard, and goes straight up the street and around the corner to her groomer's salon. And when she doesn't get an answer when scratching at her groomer's salon door, she then tries her groomer's front window lol. Oh, Oreo. I do so enjoy our visits, but only with mama's permission, okay lol??

I still have a couple appointments left before Christmas, but I don't expect them to last long! So please please book your appointment NOW, to ensure you get a time before the holidays. Thanksgiving appointments are filled, and have been for some time, as this is the busiest time of year for every salon. I will do my best to get everyone in, however this year I am taking the entire week of Christmas off. My first vacation since opening three years ago! Typically I work 7 days a week, so I'm really going to try to keep firm with this vacation time...which is why I'm urging all my clients to get set up sooner rather than later! But until then, I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving! I have so much to be grateful for, including all of you and all your beautiful babies you trust me with all year! What would I do without you all??

I just wanted to thank everyone who has sent condolences for the loss of our sweet W***y. When we first saw him ten years ago, being trampled over by a dozen German Shepherd puppies in a tiny kiddie pool...pelted and soaked in his own waste...I picked him up and told my husband that I didn't care how he did it, but I was NOT putting that dog back down. It was at a horrible pet store that's been shut down now. We were only there because I had heard how horrible it was and wanted to see for myself (and the stories weren't even as bad as it really was, and its permanently closed now, thank God). I never advocate for buying from places like this, but W***y wasn't actually for sale. He had been a breeding stud, and his owner no longer wanted to breed more pekingnese pups, so he was just...there. Four or five years old, no health history, no vaccination records. My husband asked how much and they said he wasn't for sale. My husband asked again, more sternly, how much? They shrugged and said "eh, idk..a hundred bucks?". Sold. We drove straight to the vet, where they told us his eye was obviously lost to some kind of trauma. I think about that trauma a lot...wondering what all he endured his first few years on Earth. I hope to God he forgot all that abuse in the ten years he was with us. He was just the best boy...he never showed even the slightest aggression, unless one of my Pits tried bossing him around lol. They learned quickly that he was in charge. He was my baby....mama's puppy. I'm just absolutely heartbroken. And for all my clients who have offered up cuddles with their own furbabies, I will absolutely take you all up on the offer! ❤️

We said goodbye to our own sweet old man today. If I hug your dogs extra long and cry just a little, this is why....I'm so grateful for all my emotional support dogs that come see me every day to help me through times like this. We'll miss you so so much, W***y 💔

The Lucky Penny is closed until power is restored (no restoration time from Ameren yet, unfortunately!). Hopefully everyone gets their text regarding today's appointments! I'm trying to think positive thoughts that the crews will have it all fixed soon and we can just delay everyone's appointment a bit, but I saw the picture of the broken lines and its not looking good! Still...we could get Lucky ;-)
