Good morning! I would just like to remind our clients that June is entirely full of appts! Please understand how important it is to keep your appt as there are lots more people who are wanting a spot this month that have to wait!!

Alyssa is going to be away for a bit of June but we will have Amy grooming some dogs. There will also be someone here trying to keep up with inquiries and phone calls as much as possible, so we ask you all to please be patient as we get a response to you asap.

Please book your SUMMER GROOMS ASAP, so you do not have to wait longer than you’d like to!🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

ATTENTION:

We are going to be VERY short staffed in the upcoming month of June. Alyssa will be away the week of the 10th through the week of the 17th and returning the week of the 24th!

Kasey is still on Medical Leave so she is not able to open spots while Alyssa is away.

Amy will still be taking in scheduled appointments during this time but her schedule is getting filled up for those dates also.

IF you need an appt in June contact us immediately and we will see if their is anything left.
IF you need to schedule anytime for the next few months, please contact us ASAP as we will not have someone answering phone calls or messages as frequently.

Our part time groomer Amy has some available spots too but for small dogs only..

Please keep in mind that we do our absolute best to accommodate everyone but we are a SMALL grooming salon and we are almost always booked at least a month in advance.. BUT you may always check back in case of any late cancellations or no shows on a given day.

You have virtually zero control over a dog with a retractable. Please consider switching to a standard leash to provide more control over your babies and keep them safe!

It might surprise you to learn that we don’t promote the use of retractable leashes! Our staff would never use one on our shelter pets or our personal pets at home. Why? Too many things with them can and do go wrong. We have seen injuries to both pets and people because of the use of retractable leashes. This graphic helps to explain why. Incidents can happen at the long end of the leash that don’t happen with a fixed-length leash. They break, snap, trip people, and just have lots of opportunities to cause problems.

If you are ready to switch to a thicker and safer fixed length of leash, come see us! You can turn in your retractable leash and we will give you a safe leash at no charge. It’s one more thing that we’d love to do to help keep the pets and people in our communities safer! 🐾🤍

We are looking for a receptionist who would love to join our team!

We need someone who most importantly would be excited to be around dogs all day along with some handling and socializing with them.

Someone who can handle a lot of loud noises (occasional barking, blowdryer going, etc.), someone who doesn’t mind dog hair… 😅

And on top of all that, someone who is organized and tech savvy in order to work with our scheduling software, answer our phone and other tasks!

We need someone with who is available Monday-Friday 730-430.
Some flexibility with hours is possible!

This is Diesel! He is four years old and available for pre-adoption now. He can go home after his neuter next Monday!

Diesel was surrendered because he jumps up and even gets nippy when overstimulated. He’s going to thrive in an environment where he gets the chance to burn off his Doberman energy every day. He needs to run, play ball, or be given nose work activities as part of the regular daily routine. If he can’t burn off that steam, then he’s a Ferrari engine in a VW Bug body…beep, beep, you’re getting a wound up dude 😂

Diesel is so fun to play with and very, very trainable. He had his first-ever vet visit and did great. He wants to be your best friend and he deserves to be.

We’ll be providing this gorgeous Doberman pinscher with lots of enrichment and opportunities to use his different senses to try to stave off the boredom. So many of you have recently provided these special items to us and dogs like Diesel will truly benefit from them.

So he’s available for adoption but he’s also available for short term fostering and Dog Day Adventures field trips! Yes, feel free to come to the shelter and take Diesel for a car ride, park walk, or trail adventure. You’ll feel great and you’ll be changing his whole day! Does anyone have any ideas on funding that I could access for my small business in Washington iowa?? I need to get off the square (center of town).
I am having numerous complaints from neighbors of barking dogs that has become rediculous… police keep telling me there is not much that can be done to elevate the situation as I am a business and I am loved in the community for my business, so I need to shut my windows..
I’m sorry, I will not let my client dogs suffer in humidity with windows closed..
I want to get out of here asap!
Any ideas would help, especially from my Washington small business friends of other community members that maybe work with the council or the city?
