We've had some questions about the differences between our 2 facilities. We offer the same great care at both locations, but offer much different services at each. Pine Lake DDC is a 100% social pack environment, whereas, Pine Lake Kennel is more suited for less socialized pups or dogs that need more one-on-one time. Pine Lake Kennel is also suited for very socialized dogs! We offer daycare services that tailor to both solo players or group play pups. Our open concept boarding is for dogs 25 # and under and offers a "no-kennel" boarding option to the little social butterflies. There is a couch and ample space for the dogs to do their own thing all day. Yesterday at our Morton Business Network (MBN) meeting, I brought up the idea that dogs resemble their owners. I watch 100s of dogs a week and I always find it amusing what breeds people choose and how they often carry the same personality traits, eyes or demeanor as their owners. I received some funny looks and comments, which was comical. One being from Nathan, who has a Cairn Terrier, says my dog is short, overweight, scruffy and lazy… what’s that say about me? I said, it’s not every dog/owner, but the demeanor and the scruff matched him.

After looking in to it for my fellow business owners that were curious of the notion, it is a common belief, and some studies suggest there might be some truth to it.

Research has indicated that people often choose dogs that share physical traits with themselves, such as similar eyes or facial expressions. This could be due to a psychological phenomenon known as the "mere exposure effect," where individuals prefer things that are familiar or resemble them in some way.

Additionally, over time, the behavior and mannerisms of dogs and their owners can become more aligned, which might enhance the perception that they look alike. However, it's important to note that this resemblance is more about subjective perception than a concrete, universally observable fact.

👋 Say hello to Ellise!

🔹 About:
Ellise is from Long Island. She put herself through vet assistant school at age 18 and worked two jobs while attending night school to pay for it. She learned how to groom in school and did it on the weekends for extra work. After she got pregnant with her son, she took a leave of absence to focus on her family. After about a year of staying home with her son, she missed the pet industry and decided it was time to get back to work. She started working at a Doggy Daycare and picked up grooming again which sparked her love and passion for grooming again.
I breed bunnies and keep chickens. so my weekends are full of taking care of my animals, my toddler, and volunteering at my church.

🔹 Fun Facts:
Her time off includes taking care of all of her animals. She breeds Bunnies and Chickens, loves to camp and volunteering at her church. She is 1 of 7 children, double jointed and is 4’11” tall.

🔹 Favorite Part of the Job:
“My favorite part is mixing my love for animals with my love for art. That’s what grooming is for me.

👋 Say hello to Kristy Beltz!

🔹 About:
Kristy grew up in Germantown Hills and graduated from Metamora HS. She has dedicated her life to animals since she was 8. She started dog grooming in 1997. She also volunteers time every spring to work with rescued orphaned wildlife. Kristy has 2 teenage kids, a boyfriend, 2 dogs, and 1 cat. You will not likely see Kristy’s smiling face unless you are dropping off one of your puppers to be groomed Monday through Friday by appointment.

🔹 Fun Facts:
If you don’t see Kristy at work or on the side of the street picking up stray wildlife, she is likely at the gym, her second home. Fitness and wellness has always been a passion of hers!

“The best part of grooming is the wide range of dogs that we get to work with. It's like having every breed because we see them on a regular basis🤗”

🔹 About:
Danica is a Senior at Washington High school and her passions include anything and everything to do with animals and art, specifically ceramics or anything hands on. Danica joined our pack early 2024 as a well-rounded playtime supervisor and overall rockstar! She always takes the initiative to get things done and the dogs just love her! You will likely see her smiling face Monday-Wednesday 3-6pm and Saturday & Sundays 6:30-9:30am.

Danica hopes to pursue art as a profession in the future.

“I love seeing all of the different personalities that each dog has. They are all so unique. Some are spunky and some are just the “leave me alone” type which cracks me up 😂”

🔹 About: Mackenzie grew up in pekin and moved to Washington in 2012 and graduated in 2020 at WCHS. She has been working at PLDDC for over a year. She treats every dog like her own and has the biggest heart for animals. She loves her work environment and would go out of her way to make it better in any way for everyone! She has a golden retriever named Beau Bear, an orange Tabby cat named Simba, and two leopard geckos named PB and Jelly. You will likely see her smiling face Monday-Friday 7am-12pm.

🔹 Fun Facts: When she’s not working, she loves to spend time outside, especially in her garden and going on walks with her pup!

🔹 Favorite Part of the Job:
“I have such a big heart for dogs that I would go to work for free in a heart beat. I love seeing the dogs personalities spark and their tails wagging when they see me. It’s so rewarding to feel wanted and loved! I cherish the special bonds I make with every single dog and their parents everyday! I wouldn’t trade their bond for anything! I am so blessed to have found the job of my dreams! I mean what is not to love about playing and interacting with dogs everyday!”

🔹 About: Grace joined the pack in June 2023 as our first employee at the Pine Lake Doggy Daycare & Development Center in Washington. She started as a playtime assistant and quickly flourished and blossomed into her roll as our full-time facility manager. Grace is well versed in customer service and has a keen eye for anything in the animal behavior realm. Grace adopted her first foster dog last year, Scarlett, and she accompanies her to work each day and makes a great office pup! You will likely see her smiling face and bubbly personality Monday-Friday 8am-4pm.

🔹 Fun Facts:
After Grace’s start in the daycare world, she felt driven to learn as much as possible about our furry friends. She began studying dog behavior and obedience training through the Animal Behavior Collage in April 2023. She graduated as a certified Dog Trainer in February 2024 after getting hands-on experience with a local, experience trainer. Her objective is to always learn more in order to enrich the lives of every pup she comes in contact with.

🔹 Favorite Part of the Job:
“What’s not to love?! I make my living by caring for pups like they’re my own- my childhood (and present) self is so happy that I found the job of my dreams! I think the most rewarding part is getting to see those pups who were once nervous and unsure, blossom into social butterflies over time. The joy it brings their parents makes the process that much more worth it too!”

We are seeking a new pack member Pine Lake Doggy Daycare & Development Center. We are a dedicated and passionate doggy daycare, boarding and grooming facility that prioritizes the health, happiness, and well-being of all dogs in our care. We provide a safe and clean environment for our furry guests and are looking for a hardworking and reliable individual to join our team as a facility cleaner & playtime supervisor.

We are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented individual to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of our kennel facility. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize kennels, dog runs, and common areas.
- Ensure all dog living spaces are free of waste and debris.
- Provide fresh water and clean bedding for the dogs.
- Assist with general maintenance and cleanliness of the facility.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation protocols.
-Step in where needed in weekly daycare/boarding schedule.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with animals preferred.
- Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
