Say hello to Murphy. Murphy was originally brought to us back in August of 2023. He was presented with polytrauma fractures due to being hit by a car. The multiple fractures had the potential of causing significant disability and/or be life threatening. Murphy was scheduled for fracture repair surgery on his front and rear left legs the following day. Dr. Vitale and his team, repaired the fractures with plates and pins. After Dr. Vitale performed the surgery, Murphy remained in our care for about a week. He received daily exams by Dr. Vitale and remarkable care from our incredible team. Upon his release to go home with his family, it was instructed that Murphy be on strict cage rest and use a sling when needed, for support. Although Murphy was now home resting with his family, his following weeks consisted of multiple recheck appointments with Dr. Vitale to ensure the fractures were healing properly. At each recheck visit, radiographs were performed and examined, and Dr. Vitale discussed gradually increasing Murphyโs activity levels. At approximately 5 months post-operation, Murphyโs owners were given the okay to resume normal activity. After 8 recheck visits and 28 radiographs, it was determined that the fractures had healed, however there were signs of infection. As a result, Dr. Vitale recommended the hardware be removed. At the end of January of 2024, Murphy underwent a second surgery with Dr. Vitale for the removal of the plate and pins in the front and rear left legs. Murphy was able to go home with family that night. It was instructed that Murphy get lots of rest, and avoid any rough activity. After weeks of rest and lots of love from his family, Murphy and his owners returned for another recheck appointment with Dr. Vitale. It was noted that Murphy was doing great. The fractures and incisions had healed greatly. Dr. Vitale gave the approval to begin increasing activity. Thanks to the amazing team at Wilson Vet

Thankfully, our team was able to remove the ticks from Lasso, and an exam was performed by Dr. Marcordes.
