In the event of a pet emergency, call us at 586-752-6217. We offer 24-hour hospitalization with advanced diagnostics including in-house lab work, digital radiography, ultrasound, echocardiography, and computed tomography (CT). We offer full surgical services, both soft-tissue and orthopedic. Our dedicated surgeons can perform spay/neuter, abdominal exploratory, mass removal, nephrectomy, cholecyst

ectomy, splenectomy, biopsies, endoscopy, and more (please contact us). We have several orthopedic surgeons on staff who perform CCL repairs (TPLO, TTA, LST), luxating patella repairs, fracture repairs, FHO, and more. We now offer laparoscopic surgical and diagnostic services! Our reproduction department features breeding consultations, semen collection and evaluation, semen freezing, fresh and frozen semen shipping, artificial insemination (vaginal, transcervical, and surgical), in-house progesterone testing, pregnancy ultrasounds and x-rays, and c-sections.

We're hoping to reunite this sweet cat with their family! This young adult, female Domestic Shorthair brown tabby was found in Lapeer County and brought to Wilson Veterinary Hospital.

She has a microchip, but unfortunately, it's unregistered, making it hard to find her owners.

Beyond the clinic, our Reproduction Team is active in the world of showing! ✨ Our very own Laura, LVT with Fern, Dr. Schwanger with Tilapia, Sam with Bugatti, and Jess with Chloe. They had a great time at the Ann Arbor Kennel Club dog show this past weekend. It's always inspiring to see their dedication and love for these incredible animals.💙🐾

Say hello to Kristina, our incredible Human Resource Manager! 👋

Kristina brings a wealth of knowledge to the WVH team, holding a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Development with a minor in Employment System and Standards from Oakland University. She has been a vital part of our hospital for nearly three years!

When asked what she loves most about her career, Kristina shares, "It gives me the ability to work on all aspects of HR." She's especially excited for this year as we roll out more training initiatives, allowing her to help department managers and go back to her teaching roots. Kristina loves supporting all areas of our hospital and even helps create the DVM schedule—a task she appreciates as it's strengthened her relationships with our doctors.

Kristina thrives on making a positive impact. "Anytime someone says thank you to me for something big or small, trust me, it goes a long way in my days here," she says. While HR can have its tough days, she finds joy in making a positive impact and improving our work culture. She's proud to have found a career and company she truly enjoys.

Kristina's heart is also full of pride and love as a mom! Outside of work, she loves spending time outdoors with her kids and husband, enjoying activities like hiking, park visits, boating, and swimming.

Fun fact about Kristina: If she has headphones in, she's likely listening to a podcast or fighting the urge to dance to her mix of rap, classical, pop, and country music! Before HR, she spent 15 years as a preschool teacher and a nanny.

When describing herself, Kristina thoughtfully chose "adaptable, resilient, and patient —qualities we certainly appreciate!

A pyometra is a serious and life-threatening infection of the uterus that requires immediate veterinary attention. It is considered a true emergency in veterinary medicine.

What happens with a pyometra?
When a dog or cat develops a pyometra, the uterus fills with pus, bacteria, and toxins. If left untreated, these toxins can leak into the bloodstream, leading to severe systemic illness, sepsis, and potentially fatal organ failure. The uterus can also rupture, spilling infected material into the abdominal cavity, which is often fatal. Symptoms can include lethargy, decreased appetite, vomiting, increased thirst and urination, and sometimes a foul-smelling discharge if the cervix is open.

With the support of our dedicated staff, Dr. Gryspeerd recently performed a successful emergency pyometra surgery, saving a patient from a critical condition.

•We will not be offering breeding or progesterone services today due to the holiday.

•Normal reproduction services will resume on Monday, July 6th.

•Our Emergency services will still be available for emergency C-sections, non-breeding reproduction emergencies, and general emergencies. If your pet is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call our office before making your way up to our Emergency Clinic.

We're incredibly proud and excited to announce the creation of a brand-new, vital role at WVH: 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿! 🎉 And even more thrilling, our very own 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗮, 𝗟𝗩𝗧., will be stepping into this important position!

Alisha has been a cherished and valued member of our team since 2011, consistently demonstrating compassion, clinical expertise, and a deep commitment to exceptional patient care.

In her new role as Diabetic Counselor, Alisha will be a dedicated resource, providing comprehensive support for clients and their beloved pets managing diabetes. Her responsibilities will include:

• Educating pet families on diabetes management and treatment
• Demonstrating proper insulin administration and glucose monitoring
• Supporting dietary planning and lifestyle modifications
• Offering ongoing guidance and emotional support for long-term care

This new position truly reflects our ongoing dedication to advancing patient care and providing comprehensive support to both pets and their families. We know that with Alisha’s extensive experience and passion, this program will make a profoundly meaningful impact on the lives of our diabetic patients and their owners.
