World Collie Day

Going to share tidbits of info on different breeds of dogs on different days. Just some recreational reading for you. How many of you actually know who Lassie is? Only the most famous dog in books, film and TV history. Many folks under the age of 40 have never heard of Lassie and some have never seen a Collie.

July 4th is just a few days away.
Sadly, pets escape from their yards and are lost more than any other time during the year. Many are never found. 💔
Are your pets microchipped and their information kept up to date? Do you have a safe place indoors to keep them confined until fireworks are over? Plan on taking them out on a leash so that they can't run off if they hear a boom. Your own veterinary office and most pet supply stores sell calming treats that may help your dog get through the noisy booms.

Happy 1st day of summer. June 20.
Summer Solstice. And the weather is warming up in our region, so people are considering their dog's shorter clips for the next few months. My appreciation runs deep for all my clients who have been patient and understanding with my recent time off. It was very much needed. At this point I am working hard trying to catch up, and it appears that my next available new openings are July 9th and beyond.

And the pre-summer rush has begun.
Pets who need grooming for graduation and wedding photos, all other special occasions plus warm weather maintenance and vacation trims are coming out of the woodwork. Not complaining at all.

Today is National Pet Day.
This little guy is Miles, a 12 week old Shih Tzu puppy that belongs to one of my long time clients. He is sure to be a sweetheart, as their last dog Oreo was. He is starting to learn his grooming table manners.

If you are interested in calling for an appointment, my next available dates are April 11th and 12th, followed by April 19th and 20th. Time slots tend to fill up fast, especially this time of year when your dogs are outgrowing their winter coats and need a new spring haircut.

This breed is part of the Non-Sporting Group, which confuses some folks because their name makes it appear otherwise. Recognized in 1893, they became popular in the 19th Century in one of America's oldest cities. In a nod to President's Day today (as well as the breed's National Day!), this breed was also owned by President Ford.

Happy New Year to everyone!!!
Please take note: I am having an issue with one of my eyes and will be having minor eye surgery done on Friday, January 5th. The shop will be closed Saturday the 6th and the following week the 8th to the 13th for recovery time. Will return to work on Wednesday the 17th.

Thursday December 28, 2023.
As New Year's Eve is rapidly approaching, think about your pets being anxious or sensitive to loud noises such as fireworks or guns. There are calming tablets or chews that could help them through the scary night's festivities. Check with your vet or pet supply store for availability. More pets get lost on 4th of July and New Year's Eve than any other time of year. Let's keep them all inside and safe. ❤
FYI, my shop hours have changed to being open Wednesday through Saturday, 8 am to 2 pm.
