Being on a stray hold isn’t all bad for the girl we’ve nicknamed Floridian. She came in a couple of days ago and hasn’t been reclaimed yet. So what happens?

This fluffy orange and white beauty will be in a warm cage in our Receiving Room where she is spending the remainder of her 7 day stray hold. If an owner reclaims her, hurray, she gets to go back home!

If she is not reclaimed in her stray period, she will become ours and we will bring her medical care up to date with a spay, vaccinations and a veterinary exam, and she will become available for adoption.

For now she’s “hanging out” with us, getting kitty kibble with canned food on top, and lounging in a cozy bed.

Alf came back to the shelter today. He had a wonderful shelter break and his foster family absolutely loved him. He adored the cats in the home and blended right in with the resident pack of dogs which includes a big lab, a standard poodle and a little senior chihuahua. He snuggled with the kids and loved his sleep away camp. It was the first time he was in a home that wasn’t piled with trash and filled with two dozen other animals!

Alf is a little terrier boy who weighs 20 pounds and is a year and a half old. Please feel free to email us at [email protected] with any questions! This beautiful girl is new to our adoption floor. She is gentle and loves to be petted and held 🥰 Blair only finds herself with us because a new baby was allergic to her. She was an angel in her home and very loved.

She has been settling in and enjoying all of the attention and love she’s been getting here at the shelter. She looks forward to being able to meow her little happy hello to our visitors this week, but what we hope for this lovely girl is for a new home that will live her as much as her previous one did. She does seem to enjoy children and is calm and sweet.

Carl found himself in timeout today because he was having a hard time getting along with some of our bigger cats. He does fine with the little ones. Look at the guilty expression in those crossed eyes.

Carl is so snuggly and adorable with people! He would be very happy as an only cat, and it’s completely possible that he would do well with some kitties if he did live with them, especially with a responsible introduction! There are just certain cats, out of the dozens that we have, that he tangles with.

Goodness, Tami Lyn is graduating to our adoption floor soon! As you can see, this silly six month old calico girl is spilling out of her cage in our Receiving room 🫣😂 That was her way of telling us that she wanted to be held and snuggled with!

Tami Lyn loves to play and cuddle. True to her type, she is personality plus and will definitely liven up our adoption room with her sweet and fun personality.

Alf is so happy to be in a loving foster home while he waits to be adopted. In his first few days with his foster family, he’s binge-watched I Love Lucy with his foster mom and snuggled his foster sister while she was sick. He loves his walks and keeping his foster brother company. Alf’s foster family is absolutely loving being able to keep this precious little guy out of the shelter while we find him a new home. And they can’t wait for him to be snatched up so they can do the same for the next shelter pet that needs them!

Do you remember Piggi, one of the three block headed boys who lost their homes due to a breed ban? We are happy to report that he’s named Biggie and has been doing great in his home since being adopted a few months back! He lays in inappropriate positions and steals his family’s hearts daily. It’s hard on animals to lose their homes simply because of their appearance, and many lose their lives as well, if they can’t find placement or never get the chance to. But as for this guy, we’re incredibly grateful that he got a new lease on life and a loving family that thinks he’s perfect 🐾

Awwww! In all of the busy-ness lately, we forgot to share that Chloe has been having a shelter break with a super sweet family! We can’t even tell you how much it warms our hearts to not see that beautiful and smiling senior face in her kennel these past few days. We love her so much and treasure the fact that she’s spent a few nights in a home. What an awesome vacation for Chloe! She has no idea that she’s a senior and she wants to do all the running, exploring and stretching out that she couldn’t do when she lived in some pretty rough conditions with 25 plus other pets! While a clean kennel, yummy food, fresh water, flea treatment and a vet visit were a big upgrade, there’s no substitute for being loved on a couch and spoiled! Enjoy your time away, Miss Chloe!

Animal Care Team Member Ashley showed some love to Bailey in her foster home! Bailey is too sweet for words and we all absolutely adore her.

DiCaprio is sooooo sweet and even though he looks a little rough with his bulging eye (he is having it removed soon) and some fur missing off of the back of his legs, he manages to still be so dignified and beautiful. DiCaprio is available for adoption with no adoption fee with an approved application until July 4th! You can find our application at pawsandmorewashington.org/adopt! Edit: The weird discoloration is not pee pee. The floor is completely clean, we promise 😂

Behind the scenes, we visited Simba in our Receiving Room! He is so sweet and adorable, plus he loves to be held like a baby! Simba is available for pre-adoption and will be neutered on 6/25. pawsandmorewashington.org/adopt! Isn’t he the cutest? 😍

Board member Elaine is starting to get things ready at her place for our Big PAWS Garage Sale taking place June 10th-15th. Donations are starting to come in! Nora and Luna, the dogs, want you to start making plans to shop our sale starting on Monday! You can also drop off donations at the garage sale site, 620 E Polk Street in Washington, from tomorrow all the way up until the sale! If you can sign up to volunteer to cover two hours of helping customers at our sale, please email [email protected]!
