We’re having a tree-lighting at our Holiday Open House and we’re hoping you’ll sponsor a bulb or a strand! Bulbs are $10, a strand is $50. Donate by Venmo, PayPal or check to PAWS & More

Kids, grownups, anyone of any age: We have packets available at the shelter so that you can help others sponsor a bulb too! Stop by any day between noon and 4PM to get your bulb packet. You can be a direct cause of a happier tomorrow for the animals this holiday season!

A week ago he languished near death, his body no longer able to even process nutrition. Bones laying on the cold earth. He must have felt absolutely hopeless, waiting for the pain to end.

But that all changed because a neighbor decided it would.

It’s been quite a week for Declan.

Emergency hospitalization, lifesaving treatment and more love than he ever saw coming, Declan is here today because of all the best things in the world. And so this morning as he lounges on blankets, in his cozy sweater, we hope that our boy is beginning to trust that he will always have food, always have warmth and always have kindness surrounding him. Just as it is today.

For the first time, Declan will be living indoors, with all of the nourishment, care, love and snuggling he has ALWAYS deserved 🥹

Today, Declan is headed into a foster home. There he will continue his recovery, surrounded by love. He’ll get everything he needs and be monitored at his appointments to give him the best chance at a healthier life. His body and organs have suffered greatly and we don’t know what the long term effects will be, but we know that he will be loved and supported. Always.

If all goes well, Declan’s foster family hopes to adopt him! Thank you to each and every person who has been a part of his recovery. Declan was brought back from the brink of death and we are thankful beyond words to everyone that donated , shared him, commented and cared about him. From discarded to treasured, Declan will always be imprinted on our hearts as we know he is on yours!

Whiskey is a beautiful brindle colored pup born on August 25th. He loves having indoor and outdoor play time! After he plays, Whiskey loves to snuggle up and snooze next to his person. He is working on his potty training and will be ready to have a routine in his new home! We don’t know his breed blend, his mom appears to be an Australian Shepherd mix. Whiskey is a big boy with big paws! His adoption fee is $155 and he’s neutered, current on his vaccinations and will be microchipped when he’s adopted!

Canned cat food needed! We are recovering from cat parvo and everyone has been doing well now. We use about 40 cans of canned food per day! The extra nutrition of canned food really helps keep our more vulnerable/young kitties healthier ❤️‍🩹

Do you enjoy making gift baskets? Want to support our mission? Join with your coworkers, a group of friends or your family to make a themed gift basket and donate it to our shelter for one of the two auctions we’ll be holding in November!

The first auction will be at our PAWSgiving event November 9th in Dallmeyer Hall at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Our annual Online Holiday Auction for the Animals will take place beginning the week of Thanksgiving. We would love to have auction item donations of all kinds for each event!

If you have gift cards or new items to donate for our auctions, or if you’d like to make a gift basket for us to auction off, please bring them to the shelter between noon and 4PM this week or next. We enjoy seeing all of the creative and beautiful baskets put together each year!

We received the sweetest update about the black kitten we called Foggy! His name is Salem:

“Salem is doing amazing. He is BFF’s with his cat brother, enjoys playing with his human siblings, and spends his days sleeping in the sunshine. He is the sweetest cat ever and we love him to pieces.”

Mama to Be, Bailey 🌸🥰

Animal Care Team Member Ashley showed some love to Bailey in her foster home! Bailey is too sweet for words and we all absolutely adore her.

DiCaprio is sooooo sweet and even though he looks a little rough with his bulging eye (he is having it removed soon) and some fur missing off of the back of his legs, he manages to still be so dignified and beautiful. DiCaprio is available for adoption with no adoption fee with an approved application until July 4th! You can find our application at pawsandmorewashington.org/adopt! Edit: The weird discoloration is not pee pee. The floor is completely clean, we promise 😂

Simba, the most adorable kitty!

Behind the scenes, we visited Simba in our Receiving Room! He is so sweet and adorable, plus he loves to be held like a baby! Simba is available for pre-adoption and will be neutered on 6/25. pawsandmorewashington.org/adopt! Isn’t he the cutest? 😍

Board member Elaine is starting to get things ready at her place for our Big PAWS Garage Sale taking place June 10th-15th. Donations are starting to come in! UPDATE: ADOPTED! Little two month old Maven is now ready for adoption. Like, really ready! She cries and cries and just wants to be held. She’s curious and seems to know that there is a big world outside of the shelter and she wants to be a part of it! If you want to come rescue Maven, we’re open today and tomorrow from noon until 4! Her adoption fee is $105 and she’s spayed, up to date on her shots, and will be microchipped when she goes home! If you want to complete an application before coming, that is helpful too! Story time here at PAWS! A ten year old cat and a much younger cat discover a new friendship at the shelter.

This sweet, sweet boy has overcome a lot but is ready to start a new life in a new loving home!

Today we made big sensory boxes for our animals! We put cinnamon at the bottom and sprayed lavender and peppermint on treats above, and then we put toys on top! It was like a journey for their senses and they loved it! Our animals deserve lots of spoiling even though they’re in a shelter right now. This helps keep their spirits up so they don’t lose hope that there is a wonderful tomorrow out there for them when they get chosen for forever homes 🍀 💚
