Dear Santa, can you help me home this Christmas? XOXO, Rylee ❤️🐾 [email protected]

Team member Tori created this video for Miss Rylee!

Neighbors just dropping by to plow for our dogs and staff! Thank you Madole Construction. Lots of love! 👊🏼🐾💙

Team member Pashence put together this video to help show the sweet side of this little lady! Darn it, we can’t seem to get past the first visit with Louise! We’ve had only a handful of people interested in adopting Louise since her intake in 2022. We never see them again. Once you take the time to lean her and build a relationship, she’s got a TON of character! Age 8, 8 lbs. [email protected]

Team member Ciara put together a video for Chewy! This lil’ man is funny, enthusiastic, smart, determined, and absolutely loves life! He’s looking for a home and a human! Chewy loves structure, activity, using his brain, and is good at snuggling too! Age 8 but doesn’t know it 🙌🏼💙🐾 [email protected]

This beautiful boy. What a journey!

From zero hope and a date set for euthanasia to becoming part of a family.

There are certain circumstances that reduce a dog’s chance of making it out of the shelter system alive. It’s not the fault of the shelter and it’s certainly not the fault of the dog. Any shelter will tell you what potential adopters look for and Walter didn’t have it.

Walter’s circumstances checked all the boxes. Abandoned as an unneutered male, a “pit bull” breed, sick with an upper respiratory illness, under-socialized, black in color, and found himself at a shelter that euthanizes a very high number of dogs due to the demographic location (they have no population to adopt to). They rely heavily on other organizations to pull animals from their shelter to save them. A very tough spot to be in for a dog like Walter.

What’s more, if you knew Walter, your heart would sink. He’s a very gentle boy. Unfortunately, “all the things” that appeal to adopters were missing. After a month of being ill, with no potential adopters in sight, and no other groups showing interest in transferring him, he was given less than a week. They needed to make space for more dogs being dumped or surrendered.

We love to support the underdog. We love to show that the sick, abandoned, unneutered male Pittie, can also be a healthy, well-loved, neutered, silly, and very happy sidekick for someone special.

Walter was transferred to CRCCS and after just a few months of learning how to be a dog, practicing real-world environments, and overcoming a few fears, he melted the heart of a very special human and the rest is history. Turns out, napping on the couch can come easily for an inexperienced guy.

Your Giving Tuesday donation gives love, support, and rehabilitation to those dogs who enter CRCCS as an underdog and leave our facility with a new “leash” on life! Their fur-ever home!

Today is Giving Tuesday!!

Every year, our scholarship program provides a variety of services, support, education, and/or supplies to families with dogs in desperate need of help.

Our program specifically supports dogs that have been refused help or turned away by other facilities and left with euthanasia as their only option.

Another scenario is families who have to surrender their dog to a shelter and have been told the shelter will euthanize the dog once they are surrendered.

Meet Tobi!

This guy is right in the middle of an incredible journey. Thanks to you!

Sometimes, when people go through major life changes and get a little lost, their dogs become victims, whether it intentional or unintentional.

Unfortunately, Tobi was the victim of abuse. After years of living this way, he was taken to a family member’s house and placed in an outside 5’ x 9’ kennel. Little did Tobi know, he would remain in that kennel alone, for years.

Tobi was fed through the holes in the kennel by the family with whom he was left (see the kibble in photo). They were unable to get him out of the kennel and desperately needed help. They wanted more for Tobi and couldn’t find any organization that would say “yes, we can help.”

In June of 2023, we began visiting the property and working with Tobi. Today, we continue to work with him, getting him out of the kennel for a once-a-week walk, while providing support and supplies. We are 100% committed to helping improve his quality of life.

We will keep going until this deserving boy is living better, in a healthier state of mind, with more quality and purpose. It’s been months of work. We are making strides.

Without this life-giving support, Tobi would have continued living a lonely life in the elements. Everybody deserves an opportunity to overcome circumstances. We can say with 100% certainty, Tobi is willing.

He now greets us at the kennel gate with whines of sheer enthusiasm and an eagerness to get past the confines of the small fence and dirt floor so he can explore, interact, smell things, and run!

Tobi’s journey is far from over. Stay tuned for the next chapter in Tobi’s story. He’s making progress!

We can only help this family give Tobi a better life with your support. Your donations don’t just save lives. You. Give. Them. A. Life.

Your donations mean everything to dogs like Tobi. Please help us, help them live their best lives!

ONE Day before Giving Tuesday!!

Chino’s Story

In January 2024, we received a call from the owners of a German Shepherd named Chino. They were unable to walk their dog. Chino was well into adulthood and had never been on a leash. They had trainers come to their house and were told they could not work with the dog. The owners were distraught and unsure where to turn. They were at their wits end and desperate for help.

The day handsome Chino became part of the CRCCS family is a day we will never forget. He had never been in a car. He had never met new people. He had never been walked on a leash. He had never been outside the confines of the house.

His arrival was dramatic and likely hard on inexperienced eyes. He was in complete panic, and his behavior demonstrated that to its fullest. However, for us, it represented the very first day of what would eventually become a complete transformation. It was the first day of a new life. A new day with the world and all it had to offer was just around the corner. He didn’t know it yet, but it was the day he was forced into letting his old life go and saying hello to a new one.

From that moment forward, he was on a journey like no other. The first month in our facility was a challenge for him. In one day, our dogs take more walks than he had ever been able to do in his entire life. He was terrified, pancaked to the ground, frozen.

Slowly but surely, he relaxed. He gained trust. He learned. Growth is not a straight line, and recovery and rehabilitation for a completely under-socialized dog are not a straight line. He had good days and not-so-good days. Some days, we cheered. Other days, we hurt for him, watching his complete struggle. But he did it! Oh my, he did it!

Our team invested an incredible amount of time, training, behavior modification, enrichment, and love into this beautiful boy. The dog that arrived at CRCCS is not the same dog that left. Beautiful.

It took a year of hard work and two months of structured transition into his new home. We are thrilled to introduce you to the completely new Chino and his new life! This is a new dog—a healthier, happier, more balanced dog who has found joy and fulfillment in his new life.

He now smiles. Chino, my goodness, we feel so blessed to have you in our lives.

Thank you for the journey. We’ll always be here for you wherever you need us.

The absolute gift that dogs are ❤️. Team member Pashence made this video to help promote one of our long term dogs, Sammy. He has medical needs. CRCCS will help with that. He struggles with strangers. We have just the solution and support for that too.

Consider inquiring or taking the time to get to know a long term shelter dog. You might be surprised at the personality that emerges over time. THIS is the Sammy that WE know!

And he’s pretty perfect. [email protected]

Kiya has moved from home to home more than we can count.

Originally abandoned in an apartment, she was taken in by the folks who found her. They soon realized she was more than they knew how to handle. Something was off, though they didn't know exactly what. They passed her on to someone they knew and then on to someone else they knew. The cycle continued as Kiya moved from home to home; each person discovered the same thing. They could tell she needed help, but they didn't know what was wrong.

Each time she was surrendered, the impact on her was immense. There was no stability or structure to keep her grounded. Her behavior worsened. Finally, Kiya was dropped off at a vet's office and transferred directly to CRCCS in September of 2022; she needed recovery, medical care, and behavioral help. No one could tell what was wrong. Her new journey began.

We identified the cause of her challenges and got straight to work. It was the perfect pairing of medical issues, a significant number of negative associations she had made from her past, and her natural temperament.

After four months in our program, she looked, felt, and acted like a different dog. Due to the number of homes she had been in before CRCCS, we transitioned her very slowly to a new home per her request, of course.

One year later, we received a call. Kiya’s adopter wanted to return her. Kiya had been diagnosed with a degenerative spinal condition. Behaviorally, Kiya had regressed. She wouldn't walk. She screamed and did not want to be touched or handled.

So... Our work began again!

When Kiya was returned to CRCCS, she would only walk a couple of steps at a time. Our team created new fun routines for her when she went outside. They worked daily with her on handling and touch. Soon, she was able to walk a handful of steps at a time. Months later, she was taking up to 15 steps at a time. Before we knew it, she was trotting around like nothing ever happened. She was a completely different dog.

Time, patience, consistency, positive routines. We were moving in the right direction.

This little lady still required a human who knew how to speak dog. We learned that without that knowledge, communication would break down, and she would regress. It's funny how life happens, though.

In September 2024, our entire facility was evacuated due to a fire. One of our team members brought her home during the evacuation, and, well, the rest is history. Coincidently (or not so coincidentally), it was the very same human from our team that had picked her up years before from the vet to whom she was surrendered. She had been part of Kiya's journey the entire time. The trust and the relationship were already there.

Maybe that was the plan after all. After six different homes and years of being misunderstood, Kiya is finally right where she is meant to be—beautiful story isn't it?

Giving Tuesday is a special day to share your love in a BIG way!
Your contribution gives dogs like Kiya a chance to recover physically and emotionally so they can find their fur ever family!
