Meet Sunny, a sweet seven year old chihuahua! Unfortunately, his owner has had to move into an assisted living facility and needs to rehome him. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines but will need some dental work done (very typical for chihuahuas). We are unsure how he is with other dogs or cats as he has never been around them. Please reach out to us if you are interested in him!

❄️☃️🌬️Snow/Wind Alert 🌬️☃️❄️
Be sure your fence and the gates are secure before letting your dog out. If you do not have a fence, please make sure your dog goes out on a leash.
Don’t keep them out for very long. Just long enough for them to p*e and p**p.
Please check on elderly neighbors to see if they need help with their pets.
Please keep your pet safe. Make sure they are secure. They are depending on you.

Did you know that February is National Pet Dental Health Month?!?

In addition to regular teeth brushing, your pet’s teeth and gums should be checked at least once a year by your veterinarian for early signs of problems and to keep your pet’s mouth healthy.

Have your pet’s teeth checked sooner if you observe any of the following problems:

Bad breath
Broken or loose teeth
Extra teeth or retained baby teeth
Teeth that are discolored or covered in tartar
Abnormal chewing, drooling, or dropping food from the mouth
Reduced appetite or refusal to eat
Pain in or around the mouth
Bleeding from the mouth
Swelling in the areas surrounding the mouth

Some pets become irritable when they have dental problems, and any changes in your pet’s behavior should prompt a visit to your veterinarian. Always be careful when evaluating your pet’s mouth, because a painful animal may bite.

Fall Into Good Health

It always seems like there’s a lot to keep track of this time of year! This fall, don’t forget to include your pets in your end-of-the-year preparations and planning. Now is a great time to check that your furry friends are current on their vaccines and parasite preventatives to ensure they’re primed for good health in 2025 and beyond.

It’s also important to remember that, like us, seasonal changes can bring on allergy symptoms in our pets. But unlike us, pets' allergies often manifest as severe itchiness rather than sneezing, watery eyes, or a runny nose. If you notice your pet becoming increasingly itchy this fall or showing symptoms like excessive chewing at their paws or scratching their ears, the culprit could be allergies!

Unsure if your cat or dog is coming up due for something? Wondering if your pet might be suffering from allergies? Just give us a call at (203) 819-8799—we’re ready to help!
