Update on my kitty with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease).
Petal has been having a rough week. Truthfully, we all are. She started to decline a few days ago. This is typical for cats with CKD, this usually means they need their fluid injection. We also noticed a "limp" in her back leg/s.
Well, we gave her the fluids. She finally perked up, but her legs are still weak or at least injured. We aren't sure if she hurt herself or if she's losing function in her legs.
So, we had to take her to the vet. They told us if it's musculoskeletal, the shot they gave her SHOULD work. We would see an improvement within the next few days.
She has developed a pretty severe heart murmur. He said the heart murmur could be causing the blood flow to be unable to get to the legs. We won't know if this is true until a few days from now.
Because of the CKD plus the heart murmur she cannot be treated with any steroids because the risk of Cardiac Arrest is too high.
Ultimately, if the musculoskeletal medicine does not help her legs, there's nothing we can do for her. Besides keeping her comfortable and building ramps to all of her access points. 💔
This is extremely difficult, to say the least. I am praying she will not suffer through this. It's hard to know when your pet is ready to go. Making that call is incredibly hard. Especially when she is perking up personality wise! Her body is just giving out. 💔
