This handsome 2-year-old Boxer & Pit Bull Terrier mix came to Cedar Bend Humane Society as an owner surrender and is one of our current longest-term residents, patiently waiting for his forever home. Oreo is friendly, affectionate, and playful, with plenty of curiosity and energy to brighten your days. He loves attention and playtime, and his sweet, fun-loving personality makes him a wonderful companion for someone ready to give him love and a home of his own. Oreo would do best in a home without cats, where he can focus on bonding with his people and sharing all the adventures he’s been waiting for.

🐾Volunteer Shoutout🐾

We had an amazing time hosting volunteers from Irving Elementary Flyers Club, led by our Volunteer Supervisor, Ayanna! Cory, the leader of this group, shared that he’s been doing this for 10 years, and he clearly loves helping animals while also helping kids learn leadership and gain real-life experience.

The kids jumped right in—filling bags of dog food, giving treats to dogs, playing with kitties, and getting lots of hands-on learning along the way. When asked their favorite part of the day, they all agreed: playing with the animals and interacting with them!

🐶 The dog pictured with them is Amira, who is available for adoption! She loved all the attention from the kids and is hoping to find her forever home soon. 💙

Cedar Bend Humane Society has been helping the pets and pet families of Black Hawk County, Iowa since 1910. We are a non-profit organization that exists because of the support and friendship of people who donate money, time, and other gifts.

Every dollar and donation received benefits the animals by helping with medical needs, spay and neuter costs, and providing care and shelter for the homeless, neglected, and unwanted animals of the Cedar Valley.
