Remember you get an extra benefit when you use your EBT (Food Stamp Card) at the farm. We will issue you a Double UP Food Card in the amount of your purchase for fresh fruits and vegetables for a future purchase (some limits apply). This is an excellent benefit to you as a consumer since you are able to get additional produce in your diet for no additional cost to you.

Peppers, peppers, peppers! Greg is excited by the number of colored sweet peppers in the field. We will be open Friday, August 23rd from 3-6 p.m. at the farm for in person sales (no field picking). We will also be at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market Saturday, August 24th from 8:30 a.m.-noon. CFU is having an event at the Market on Saturday so be prepared for crowds. Hope to see you soon! P.S. Now is a great time to start making some applesauce! We have Redfree and Zestar apples available in bulk (bushels aka 40 lbs). Let us know by Thursday afternoon, August 22nd, if you would like a bushel so we can get them prepared.

The conditions have been appropriate for digging some potatoes. We finally have a large quantity of our Natasha (yellow skin & flesh - Excellent taste, perfect for salads & steaming or creamy mashed potatoes) harvested. These will be unwashed. Stop by during u-pick Wednesday, August 21st between 4-6:30 p.m. or Saturday, August 24th between 4-7 p.m. to purchase yours.

It has been a rainy, hazy day but we have been busy getting ready for our upcoming sales. We will have apples, beets, carrots, onions, collards, cucumbers, fresh cut herbs, garlic, green beans, yellow flat beans, lettuce, peppers (hot & sweet), potatoes, shallots, tomatoes, zucchini and more.
Stop by our farm Friday, August 16th from 3-6 p.m. for pre-picked produce, the Cedar Falls Farmers market Saturday, August 17th from 8:30 a.m.-noon, or if you are looking to pick your own produce, we are open Saturday, August 17th from 4-7 p.m. or Wednesday, August 21st from 4-6:30 p.m. We are looking forward to seeing you soon.

We are picking an abundance for Redfree and Zestar (formerly known as Zesta) apples. If you are interested in a bushel (40lbs) or more, we will be picking to order for purchase this coming Friday, August 16th. We will need your order no later than Wednesday, August 14th. As August is starting we are picking more early summer apple varieties (Zestar, Redfree, Pristine, Earligold & Summer Mac) along with a few pears. We will have green beans, onions, beets, celery, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, kale, collards, kohlrabi, lettuce, peppers, potatoes, okra, radishes, sweet corn, shallots, torpedo onions, tomatoes, zucchini and possibly a few muskmelon. Hours this week: Friday, August 2nd from 3-6 p.m. at the farm (No field picking), Saturday, August 3rd from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market, Saturday, August 3rd U-Pick from 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday, August 7th U-Pick from 4-6:30 p.m. Thanks!

Several days of rain creates a lot of mud in the fields. If you are planning to pick, please come prepared for the mud and mosquitos. U-Pick is open Wednesday, July 24th from 4-6:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 27th from 4-7 p.m.

Ever wonder what was eating your tomatoes or leaves? This big worm starts small but can quickly grow and cause a lot of damage to your tomato plants. The tomato hornworm and/or to***co hornworm can be hard to spot, they are excellent at camouflaging themselves, this is to protect themselves from birds that enjoy them as a treat. If you notice damage to your tomatoes or stripped tomato leaves, you may want to look for worm castings on the ground. If they are dark, the worm may or may not still be around. If the castings are green you should be able to find them on your plant (birds do occasionally take care of them for you). It is recommend to stop more damage that you remove them (beware, they have an excellent grip). Our U-Pick in the fields is now open on Wednesdays from 4-6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 4-7 p.m.

IT IS that time of YEAR...U-Pick (field picking) starts this Saturday, July 20th. NEW HOURS. We have new hours this year. We will be open on Saturdays from 4-6:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4-6:30 p.m. We will NOT be open on Sundays until September. We will publish those hours when it gets closer.🦟🦟🦟The Mosquitos 🦟🦟🦟 are hungry so we recommend that you apply insect repellent prior to arriving at the farm. It is very important the no repellent is applied in the fields or near any produce. Thank you!

The summer is flying by. It is hard to believe that it is the 3rd week of July already. Large heads of lettuce are back this week. We will have a great selection of produce including leeks, garlic, onions (white, red, & yellow), tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, zucchini, cucumbers, beets, fennel, fresh cut herbs, potatoes, radishes, shallots, torpedo onions, green beans and more. Stop by the farm for in person sales (no field picking) Friday, July 19th from 3-6 p.m. or the Cedar Falls Farmers Market Saturday, July 20th between 8:30 a.m.-noon.

Reach out to be added to our bulk green bean list for bushels . What a difference a year can make. Two years with little to no rain and now we are trying to pick, plant and w**d in-between showers and rain storms. On the brighter side, the bees are enjoying the squash blooms. We hope to see you this afternoon or Saturday at the farmers market, rain or shine. Thank you to everyone who comes to market on all those rainy days.

July is here and we are picking even more produce. We will have our 1st sweet corn, green beans, leeks & okra of the season. We hope you enjoy your 4th of July and that we will see you either Friday, July 5th from 3-6 p.m. at the farm or Saturday, July 6th from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market.

**Update - Just harvested new potatoes and zucchini*** Stock up this week. If you need veggies, we recommend you get what you need for the next two weeks. Stop by to purchase Friday, June 21st at the farm from 3-6 p.m. or Saturday, June 22nd at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m.-noon. We will also have annual, perennial and herb plants. We won't be selling the week of June 23rd-June 30th. Our farm will be open again on Friday, July 5th and we will be at the market on Saturday, July 6th. Thanks!

**Updated - We will have Frisee (Endive).** Annual plant sale. With it being the middle of June it is time to find a home for the remaining annual flower plants. If you are looking for a great deal or just need one or two extra annual flowers to beautify your garden. Our anticipated vegetable selection this week will include lettuce, cucumbers, beets, kale, collards, cabbage, Swiss chard, kohlrabi, radishes, garlic, garlic scapes, onions & fresh herbs. Stop by the farm Friday afternoon between 3-6 p.m. or see us Saturday morning at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market 8:30 a.m.-noon.

**Update - Peas picked for tomorrow morning! We have limited quantities so stop by early to purchase** With longer days, warmer weather & plenty of rain the crops are growing quickly. We will start selling our first bulb onions this week and should have a good supply of cucumbers. We have plenty of annuals, perennials and herb plants available. There is still time to stop by the farm today, Friday, June 7th between 3-6 p.m. or check us out at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market Saturday, June 8th from 8:30 a.m.-noon.

We are mixing things up a little at the farm. We are going to pause the online store for the summer months to give our employees and ourselves more manageable work weeks. We will continue to offer fresh produce on Friday afternoons from 3-6 p.m. but you will no longer need to place an order on Wednesday. You can just stop by the farm to browse the produce we have to offer that week.

This will also give us the opportunity to offer you additional items not offered online or last minute produce we find available in the fields. We are anticipating to resume online sales for the month of October and November. Please continue to watch your email for updates, weekly; we will give a glimpse of what you can expect for produce on Friday afternoons.

Please note that ONLY pre-picked produce will be offered during this period; the field will not be open for u-pick.

We have been busy this week getting some planting done before the next rain and Memorial Day weekend. We hope we can help you with your veggie needs for your Memorial Day celebrations. We will have radishes, beets, lettuce, green onions, Swiss chard, young garlic, etc. Not looking for veggies but need some additional plants for your garden, we can help you out. Stop by and see us at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market - Saturday, May 25th from 8:30 a.m.-noon. COVID-19 – Information for the 2020 market season - NEW FALL HOURS UPDATED 9/10/2020

We are doing all sales online until further notice. You can sign up to order and pay at https://www.localline.ca/hoffman-produce-farms. Once signed up we will assign you to a catalog. You will then be able to order and pay on Thursday for Saturday morning pick up at our farm.

Steps in ordering online.

1) Sign into your account when the store is open – Thursday

2) Add the items you would like to purchase to your cart (Note: minimum order of $10 is required)

3) Go to your cart and select check out

4) Select the appropriate pickup location –

Monday order you must select Thursday you must select Saturday pickup

5) Select the appropriate date on the calendar that matches the pick up location

6) Complete the order by paying

You will receive an order confirmation with the day and time to pick up your order.

Steps to pick up at the farm.

1) Arrive at the farm during the scheduled pick up time

2) Please have your cellphone available to call when you get to the sign that states to call. If you don’t have a phone please have a large piece of paper with your name and phone number on it. This is how we will locate your order.

3) Stay at the designated waiting area until your order is pulled and on the bench

4) Pull forward and pick up your order

Orders placed on Thursday need to be picked up on Saturday morning between 8:00-noon
