Looking for a dog you don't have to potty train? Tippy could be your gal! Not a lot of info is listed on petfinder but it does say she is a snuggler!! A potty trained snuggler? Who would want anything more?
For more information about Tippy, please reach out to Jefferson County Dog Control via email at [email protected] or by phone at 315-779-5900.
There was recently a parvo break out at dog control. It has been dealt with but what all the officials want us to stress is the huge importance of getting your dog vaccinated. Parvo can be fatal and the treatment is often very expensive and can easily be prevented by vaccines. If you do not have a regular vet SPCA of NNY holds clinics as well as Petco and tractor supply. So there really is no excuse for not vaccinating your dog
Fuller and Dallas took a ride ro Syracuse today where there will soon be neutered and available for adoption!! Thank you HumaneCNY !!
Hey there! I’m Loki, a handsome dog looking for my forever home. ! I’m fully potty trained, so no embarrassing accidents on our romantic walks!
Looking for someone to share snacks (I love peanut butter), adventures (squirrel chasing, anyone?), and cuddly Netflix nights (I present my best puppy eyes for extra snacks).
My hobbies include rolling in grass, stealing socks, and practicing my runway walk. Serious inquiries only—fluffy tails and wagging tongues preferred! Let’s meet, and I promise to leave a paw-sitive impression!
For more information about Loki, please reach out to Jefferson County Dog Control via email at [email protected] or by phone at 315-779-5900.
In 2020 many shelters were empty due to people being home during the pandemic. Everyone wanted a dog. So breeders then ramped up and these days shelters are full breeders are unloading full litters. Currently there are 17 dogs available at dog control. These dogs are not getting adopted very quickly and are sitting there for months. Please we beg you to stop supporting breeders please rescue. We know your best friend is just waiting for you
Bruce is still at dog control. He is a puppy!! A baby overlooked and sad that he is in such a loud place. How will he ever learn to be a good dog if no one teaches him?? Puppies learn the most in the first year. Bruce needs a home, a soft place to crash, lots of love and training. Dog control is open today from 8-4:30. We hope someone can find it in their hearts to give this sweet baby a home soon!
Please contact Jefferson County Dog Control for more information

We have been fighting for so very long to get dogs beds at dog control and the new director is on board! We are so pleased these little souls will be more comfortable while they wait for a new home! There has been a huge influx of dogs at dog control and the adoptions have been very slow lately. Please we beg you to adopt not shop!!
We included a link to donate to HumaneCNY. They too have had a huge influx of animals and we love to support all shelters and especially ones that support Jefferson County Dog Control !!! They have taken some of dog control dogs in the past to maybe give them a new audience and it definitely works to get them a new home. So if you want to share your thanks please donate to them!

How is Dallas still at dog control??? It is no place for a little guy to grow up. He was found as a stray, he is all play and is definitely food motivated!! He would do well with another dog of the same energy level. He is a head tipper when you talk to him, he makes funny noises and investigates with a furrowed brow and an awkward tip if the head.
Someone please rescue this adorable young lab. Any questions please contact Jefferson County Dog Control
look at this handsome guy all ready for summer parties and no where to go! Ziggy is listed as house trained and a happy guy!! Someone get this sweet guy out of the shelter so he can resume his summer party life!!

Do you remember Portia?? She was transferred to Jefferson County SPCA of NNY ! She has had her spay operation and is ready for her forever home! She is the sweetest sunniest girl and get regular play time now and is ready for her forever home!!! We love it when shelters work together ❤️
Brownie and Lil bit made the ride to HumaneCNY! They immediately got some play time in a big yard and are going into foster care today! Our wish is that dog control one day will have a bigger yard, the dogs will get tons of play time and they will allow volunteers. For now we will transport whenever we can and post pictures so you can see all the available dogs at dog control
We get our information off petfinder.com we are just trying to get the faces of these little souls out there in hopes that the perfect family can find one of these babies and give them a home. These are the faces of the dogs available at dog control. These dogs so often are the forgotten ones. People don't always think of dog control when they are looking for a dog and quite often they sit there for months. They don't allow volunteers and some of the staff do the best they can. But with not enough employees and a lot of dogs there just isn't enough time to give them half the attention they deserve. They have a teeny tiny play yard and do not get walked ever. The staff does do some enrichment and thanks to your generosity they do get some chew toys. But again not enough for mental stimulation. And don't get us started on the volume of the noise in the shelter. Workers and visitors need to wear ear protection. Can you imagine how scary and stressful that must be for these dogs?? As this page is not directly affiliated with Jefferson County Dog Control, and is meant for promotional purposes only, please contact Dog Control directly with specific questions pertaining to a dog(s) you may be interested in adopting (e.g. known history, compatibility with other dogs, cats, children, etc.) at (315) 779-5900. Please visit PetFinder.com for the most current listing of adoptable pups at Dog Control. Thank you for considering adoption!
🔔 IMPORTANT: SOUND ON! 🔔 This is a walkthrough of Dog control a couple days ago. We want to communicate several really important things with this video. Please read and watch. 1. The shelter is COMPLETELY full. Please adopt, adopt, adopt. 2. If you’ve lost a dog, please come in to see if your dog is there. The shelter needs people to reclaim their pets. (Also note that the current supervisor won’t allow stray intakes to be posted on Facebook, which is actually illegal.) 3. Please turn the sound on for this video. This is the loudest shelter that we have ever been in. Staff and visitors cannot walk back in the dog run area without wearing hearing protection. When the new NYS Ag & Market that go into effect in 2025, it will be a violation of the law to have decibel levels this loud. The county should be addressing this right now. 4. We have been advocating for volunteer help for the last four years to Jefferson County. The dogs at the shelter are getting almost no exercise and socialization because there are so many dogs that the staff can hardly keep up with cleaning alone. 5. When dogs don’t get exercise, socialization, enough enrichment, and *time away* from these extremely stressful conditions they rapidly deteriorate. You may notice in the video that some of the dogs are circling in their kennels. This is called stereotypic behavior and essentially means the dogs are breaking down and going crazy. Not getting the dogs out for exercise, socialization, and giving them ample enrichment will be illegal when the new laws come into effect in mid-2025. The county should not wait until then, this needs to be addressed now. 6. Please continue to advocate for these dogs in our community. The most effective thing you can do is go to the monthly General Services Meeting and speak to the legislators and the county administrator in person. So many of you have complained that writing letters and making phone calls has gotten you nowhere. Please
It has to be a statistical impossibility that the wonderful Mr. Moses has not met his perfect human match yet! Moses had a lot of interest in the beginning, but his fanfare is starting to die down… So he needs a hype man (or woman!) to get the good word out. Moses is about three years old, and a super amazing, cuddle monster. If you’re looking for someone to dote on you (aka follow you to every room including the bathroom) and stare at you all day adoringly, this is your man. Yes on other dogs, no on cats, kids likely, steal your heart… definitely. Pleeeeease share our main dude 🙏🏼
Crazy Mayzie hopes you’re as excited about the possibility of her being adopted today as she is! Mayzie is a year old Lab mix who loves life. She’s affectionate and energetic and could likely live with kids and other dogs. The girl must be an astrological water sign because she’s all about being a water baby. More at: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/mayzie-63650174/ny/watertown/jefferson-county-dog-control-ny358/ Come meet Mayzie today ⭐️
At 10 years young, Jada will out spring chicken any spring chicken! This vibrant beauty has been available for over five weeks now and if any mature lady deserves a lasting, loving retirement home it’s this one! Don’t let Jada’s age deter you, this granny still has a ton of go left in her. Not only does Jada have a sparkling personality and is described as curious, social, affectionate and friendly, she’s lived with cats and children and did great (although she’d love a home with kids maybe teens on up just to make sure she can take some solid naps). She recently had a mini play date with another 10 year old pup who ended up being adopted, but Jada did great with her too. So, seriously, she checks every box! Come meet this sweetie today ❤️
This playful bundle of crazy cuteness could be yours! Snoop is a 1 year old Lab mix who would like nothing more than a person or family who wants an active dog as their best buddy. Snoop would love to be your solo fur baby and, due to size and energy level, would probably do best with older children.
Showcasing almost all of the currently available dogs at Dog Control! Two newbies also making their debut shortly 😀
Hi fives are just one of the free services Mr. Moses offers upon adoption into a good home. Moses is a 3 year old stunning brindle boy. He’s like the loving, doting, excellent listener of a boyfriend you’ve always wanted who has googly-eyes only for you. This tender-hearted lover boy has lived with other dogs and would likely do well with older or dog-savvy kids. Moses doesn’t have any debt, won’t take up any prime real estate in your closet, and will always let you watch your shows on Peacock. Even the ridiculous ones. Don’t pass up this amazing catch!
ADORABLE ADOPTABLES!! Here is a virtual walkthrough of the dogs that will be starting off the week tomorrow VERY ready to be adopted. With the volume on you can hear all of their names. We really love these live videos showing off all of the adoptable pups (thanks, Jen!). Remember that many (most) dogs are not going to “show” best in their kennels. They are frustrated and want to be out and with people so they may seem aggressive and mean or out of control… but they’re not! Just ask so many of our former adopters who gave one of these pups a chance and ta-da they’re actually the best dogs! Just ask to meet them outside their kennels. In order of appearance: GEOFFREY RAMBO BUSTER MOSES JADA SNOOP And a gigantic shoutout to Dog Control Officers Marisa, Ted, and Lindsay! So much has happened in the past couple weeks at the shelter, but this small, but mighty team rocked every bit of it 😀
Who’s this best boy sitting nicely when asked (for the most part 😆) and bringing his ball back for a game of fetch! Rambo is around 4 years old and is itching to find a human of his very own. Rambo will need a home where he can be the only dog and without young children (adults only would be ideal). Rambo is smart, independent and eager to learn. He would absolutely love to ride along with you to run mundane errands or to go on exciting adventures. He’s a diamond in the ruff who wants to be loved. Rambo has been available since December 12, 2022 with no interest ☹️
“Ready for my walk… don’t worry, I found the leash!” Little Zoey is about a year old and maybe 40-ish ponds. She’s sweet, shy, playful, and looking for a loving family who will make a long-term commitment to her 💕 #giveagoodgirlahome
It’s National Rambo Day! While we wait for National Rambo Day to become an official holiday, we encourage everyone to celebrate by eating your favorite dessert with the calories on us, to complement your favorite adult beverage with another adult beverage, to hug a random stranger (okay, well maybe high five so no one ends up in handcuffs), and of course to spread the good word about Handsome Rambo here ❤️ Rambo is a 4 year old smart, adventurous, independent, playful guy who makes up his own mind and has some strong opinions (including believing that he should be your one and only fur kid). Rambo is looking for an adults-only home (or maybe teenaged children) with a loving fam that’ll set consistent and firm boundaries. This diamond 💎 in the ruff deserves a real chance!
Is my forever family here to adopt me? -Zoey 1 year old Collie mix? Older kiddos Meet-n-greet with your current dog Unknown on cats Sweet, shy, timid, level 10 snuggler Cutest cowlick you’ve ever seen on a dog

You mean to tell me I have 5,000 Facebook friends and not one of them is a Lab lover?? I’m Raven. I came to the shelter and it was supposed to be a real temporary thing, but now I’ve been stuck here for a while, and I really want to find a forever family! I’m a super cool chick, with loads of energy, and all the time in the world for shenanigans. I love toys, love to play, am confident, a people person, and may do okay with another dog. I’m a muscly babe and not exactly delicate! More bull in China shop than wallflower. I’ll need some training help, but am up for the challenge. Willing to work for treats and lovins. Don’t leave a Lab alone! Give a girl a greet 🥰
Snow baby, Maya, is hoping for a forever family to ring in the New Year with. Maya is only 8-months-old and her life did not start out well as she came to the shelter very underweight. She’s now on the road to recovery and looking for a special person/family she can trust. When Maya realizes she’s safe, she’s pretty much the sweetest girl ever. Staff are recommending older children (due to some food guarding) and a meet-and-greet with your current fur kid(s). Stop by and say hi 👋🏼 today!
⭐️ ADOPTED ⭐️ Hi, I’m Pepper 🌶 This is the place to go to find a great home, right? First things first, I know I don’t really stand out appearance-wise, but what I may lack in eye-catching floof on the outside I make up for with being all heart on the inside. I’m the resident disposer of broken dog treats, the toy-toughness tester outer, the super silly showoff, and a snuggle-seeking sweetheart. Everyone who meets me says “she’s SUCH a good dog!” Can I be YOUR good dog? Let’s do life together ❤️ You supply the “good girl, Pepper’s” and the belly rubs and I’ll make you laugh and feel like the most important person in the world. Cuz to me, you will be. (Click on picture below to start my videos 👇🏼)
