Hedy evaluated the Solstice Xolos “natural disasters” litter today. What a lovely bunch of puppies.
Some facts about Xolos:
-Xolo is short for Xoloitzquintle or Xoloitzquintli.
-Often referred to as the “Mexican Hairless Dog”, that name is a misnomer because as you can see here, half of the breed actually does have a full coat of hair.
-They're an ancient landrace dog which existed alongside both the Aztec and Mayan empires.
-Xolos are one of three still existing breeds with a dominant hairless gene.
-There are records of Xolos existing that date back 3,000 years.
-The name "Xoloitzcuintli" derives from the Nahuatl term "Xolotl," the Aztec god of death, and "itzcuintle," meaning dog (or child.)
