As the weather has warmed back up a bit for this week we are back to our regularly scheduled walks.
It's a common belief that dogs and cats are more resistant than people to cold weather because of their fur, but it's untrue. Like people, cats and dogs are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia and generally should be kept inside during these very cold days.
With the cold temperatures this week dog walks will be canceled. The pads of a dog's paws can be sensitive to cold, salt, and ice-melting chemicals. The possibility of frost bite also drastically increases with temperatures below 20ยฐ F
When the temperature is 10ยฐF or lower we take extreme caution when caring for your pets along with our staff and will only be providing drop in visits for these days. Stay safe and warm!
As this year comes to an end we want to give a huge shout out to all of our clients who supported us throughout the year! ๐ฅณ๐
We have made a lot of changes this year and appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation with us.
We are sad to announce the closing of our Daycare and Boarding services, but still offer all in your home services.
Want to wish everyone a safe and happy new year! ๐ค๐ Look forward to what's to come in 2024!
โ๏ธ๐ง Due to the consistency of the rain dog walks will be canceled. ๐งโ๏ธ
All drop in visits will still take place! Thank you for your cooperation. โ๏ธ๐
Anyone else have a dog like this?? ๐ง

Mix it up! Dogs love to investigate new surroundings. Switching your walking or hiking routes is a simple way to add some additional stimulation throughout the week. It's as easy as taking a left versus a right. Plus it's good for you too.
Today we took some regular dog walkers on a field trip to the park for a mini hike and they absolutely LOVED it.
August 8 is International Cat Day โ a day to celebrate one of manโs most common and ancient pets. They have even been worshiped as gods (we see you, Egypt.) Well, it is not surprising, Cats are one of the coolest beings on the planet: they are independent, inquisitive, adventurous, have an amazing physiognomy, and the power to heal by themselves โ at least most of the time.
๐โโฌ Happy International Cat Day!! ๐
Everyone loves to take their dogs in the car with them, but are they safe?
Top 3 rules for having your dog in the car:
๐ Donโt drive with your dog unrestrained in the car
๐ป Avoid letting your dog stick their head out the window
๐ Keep your dog out of the passenger seat
๐ Unsecured pets can cause distracted driving, which dramatically increases your chances of getting into an accident. Itโs also true that an unsecured pet has a greater chance of getting seriously injured in the event of a crashโand they can become a projectile that hurts others, or flee the scene and get lost in the aftermath.
๐ป Windows are another risk. Dogs putting their heads out a window can be injured by road debris. They can also jump out of a moving vehicle, or give in to temptation and make a break for it at a stoplight.
๐ Though there are devices that show dogs happily harnessed in the passenger seat, itโs also not a good idea to let your dog ride up front. Air bags designed for human safety are likely to injure an animal passenger.
So whatโs the safest way to restrain your dog in the car?
We recommend crates and crash tested harness with a seat belt attachment.
If you choose a dog car harness, look for thick, padded straps. Car harnesses, sometimes called dog car seat belts, are different from regular dog walking harnesses. They need to be stronger than a walking harness to withstand the potential force of stopping at high speed. Theyโll also often have thicker straps and more padding to distribute your dogโs weight more evenly. Dog car harnesses should always be used in conjunction with a seatbelt lock. Mighty Paws and Kurgo both have crash tested safety harnesses and buckle attachments.
Dog crates are a good safety pick with the right sizing. Your pet should fit snugly in the crate. When containing your dog for travel bigger is not better! If your dog primarily rides in back, a crate is your best option for security. Theyโre also generally great for creating a calmer environment if your dog gets overly excited seeing other dogs or scenery on the road, or if theyโre anxious about trips. Gunnerโs G1 kennels have a tactical look and impressive safety ratings.
Other important pet car safety facts!
๐ Car barriers canโt help in the event of a crash. Though car barriers can keep a dog out of your lap while youโre driving, They donโt prevent ejection or escape in the case of a crash. Additionally, most barrier products are not tested for safety.
๐ป What feels like a mild day outside wonโt feel so mild inside the car. The temperature inside a car on a 75-degree day can easily reach 100 degrees. And no, cracking a window wonโt help.
๐ It is a good idea to lock your car windows and child-lock your car doors in case your dog has a chance of accidentally touching a button and opening or closing them.
Have any questions about fit on safety products for your dog please reach out. We want you and your pets safe on the roads!
๐ ๐ Vacation Tips! ๐ ๐
If your vacation is a day trip to an exciting location, or a weekend getaway to keep you sane from the work week, leaving your dog at home will be an easier task than you think. Since you'll only be out of the house for a short time, the danger of separation anxiety is a lot less prominent for both you and your furbaby. Trips this short are also easy to prepare for when it comes to your dog's care.
Your dog will likely be just fine staying in your home while you're gone, so depending on how much of the two days you will spend away from home, you can always ask a friend, neighbor or family member to stay over or stop by a few times to spend time with, feed, and check on your dog.
We strive to build a relationship with you and your dog(s) so this is an easy service to provide when the time comes.
๐๐๐๐
When you know you'll be out of the house for a week or more, dog care becomes a little more complicated. You'll need someone to look after your dog every day, providing him or her with the necessary food, water, attention and affection during your absence.
When you're picking someone to care for your pup, make sure it's someone you trust. This means a reliable, responsible friend or family member you know can dedicate the proper amount of time to looking after your furbaby. Our dogcare staff are great candidates for carers because they know you, your dog and how important the job is!
To help you choose, consider the people in your life who know your dog best โ familiar faces are the best option for putting your pet at ease when you're not around. If you would like to keep your dog at home and have a family member or friend watching them we are happy to coordinate with them keeping your dogs schedule as regualr as possible.
Because of the home environment and familiar faces boarding with us is generally a smooth transition may it be a single overnight or a weeks stay. Have any questions about boarding, overnights, or drop in visits send us a message.
๐ ๐ Happy Vacationing!! ๐ ๐

Thanks for all the love and support! Have a wonderful weekend. ๐ค
One of the best parts of our job is allowing dogs to do things they love. ๐ค
Sniffing is how dogs learn about the world.
Dogs evolved to use their sense of smell to survive - to find food, to learn about other members of their species, to navigate the landscape, and to evade predators. Sniffing is the primary means by which dogs gather and process information about the world.
During this 60min walk we got in 1mile of trails and the dogs were out for the whole afternoon! (Forgot to start the tracker! ๐

If you want to join any pack walks or get your dog on our walking schedule please reach out to us! ๐
๐ถ Happy National Mutt Day!! ๐ถ
Mutts are known by many names โ mixed-breeds, crossbreeds, hybrids, Heinz 57s, mongrels, half-breeds โ but these lovable mixes often make wonderful additions to the family. With those sweet lab eyes, playful poodle curls, strong shepherd gait and who knows what else mixed in, mixed breeds come with a unique look and personality all their own. National Mutt Day is July 31, and we want to celebrate these lovable, unique pets who paw their way into our homes and hearts.
๐ฆHAPPY NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY! ๐ฆ
National Ice Cream Day was established in 1984 by President Reagan to honour the popular treat enjoyed by over 90 per cent of the U.S. population. This recognition elevated the dairy industry and highlighted Americans' love for ice cream, with the country consuming 23 gallons per year, the highest in the world.

How is your dog in the cold? Every dog is different and we like to tailer to them all individually. Lick Mats, interactive toys, puzzles, and training will be on the schedule for sweet Ariel. Her little feet get cold after just a few minutes out in the snow. While a couple of our tougher boys will have a mix of inside and outside play as this cold doesn't seem to bother them quite as much!
We are all about calmness and being interactive. Dogs get 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon to play, be outside, rough house, chase eachother or the squirrels out of the yard. Mid day and then again at the end of the day we take time to settle and be calm. Dogs get separated into their own space to decompress and relax. During our "Lunch Break" all the dogs here get a snack as well! Today we did Vital Essentials freeze dried duck nibs, peanut butter, and dehydrated chicken liver. ๐ฆ Freeze-dried duck dog treats are the perfect option for dogs with allergies to more common proteins, like chicken or beef, or simply to spice things up with the experience of something your dogโs never tried. Duck meat is a healthy protein for your dog โ lean, yet naturally rich in iron and other nutrients. ๐ฅ Peanut butter is a nutritionally well-rounded dog treat, providing nutrients and fiber as well as protein and healthy fats. It's also a good source of folic acid for cell growth and magnesium to assist cells metabolize B complex vitamins. ๐ Chicken livers are good for dogs because they're rich in amino acids and contain high-quality protein. It's also a great source of zinc, copper, iron, and vitamin B-complex Blue here got his snack on a lick mat while the other dogs got theirs in a kong.
Unfortunately our dog walks are mid day which is also the hottest part of the day. That being said, dogs will sometimes get shorter, slower walks but more one-on-one time. We will play and work on training inside or in a shaded spot. Here one of our younger clients Lumi is working on his come, sit and downs. Like a pro of course ๐
