Music Bingo was a huge success and so much fun for our final event of 2024!! As Mike Tischer Entertainment rolled the tunes, we daubed and danced our way to raising $3,500 for the shelter renovation project! A special thank you to Shane at Lucky Chucky's The Lakeside Supper Club & Lounge for the SURPRISE $1,000 donation!!

Our community has been so incredibly generous to us, it's time we help give back! Thanks to Farm and Fleet here in Watertown, we are offering a fun giveaway to help collect donations for the Watertown Unified School District's high school food pantry! From now until the end of the month, drop off a donation off their wish list attached and pick out a brand new item for your pet! We LOVE getting DNA results back of our alumni pets!! Most recently, Kanoodle's results came in - what do you think? Do you think the breeds accurately portray his looks?! While many will be celebrating their friends and family soon this Thanksgiving, we give extra thanks for the true heroes in Watertown dedicating their time and talent to the animals of the shelter. Without them, we would not be able to continue our mission. This month, we show extra gratitude to Vicki, our Vet Tech. Assistant! Vicki plays a crucial role in our clinic monitoring animals as they come out of anesthesia, checking vitals, and other necessary roles in day to day surgeries. Thank you for your dedication, Vicki!

Meet Power (known in our house as Nova) 🥰🐕 We are told she is a purebred German Shephard - and we know she is beautiful!! 🤩

This girl is a gem. She is super sweet, perfectly awkward and playful - as you would expect with a 6 month old pup whose body is bigger than she realizes. 😁😝

She is protective, but not aggressive. She and her foster sister Lexie get along great - often chasing each other playfully around the house! She sleeps through the night and is well-kennel-trained. When she is tied up outside she does bark a bit anxiously when she is separated from her peoples. This doesnt seem to happen when she is in her kennel, though, so we think it has to do with seeing us but not being WITH us. 💙 We actually think she would do well off-leash, but based on feedback from her original family, we haven't attempted.

She does great with our kids (4, 6, 9, and 12) and seems to love footballs of all things! She also enjoys stealing her foster sisters stuffed animals and prancing around the house showing them off. 😆🤣

She doesn't seem to have any food-obsession or guarding behaviors, which is great! She has had an occasional potty accident in the house, but not too often. She even sleeps through the night (YAY!)

She will make a GREAT companion and family member in her forever home. ❤️

This week was a week for the dogs! While we're always happy to adopt out cats, dogs tend to take a little longer so its always extra special when the dogs finally find their people. Zeus, Ruby, Jasmine, Chloe and Barley, Kevin, Butternut and Honeynut, Tiny Handsome, Mr. Magnificent and Moonbeam, Butterball and Harmonica, Gracie, and Matz (Not Pictured). Congrats to all the new pet parents and their babies. 😍🥰😍

The calls continue to come in. Unwanted puppies need our help and we cannot commit to helping without YOUR help. We already have puppies arriving this Friday with the help of our wonderful foster homes who have stepped up. Now can we ask for more fosters to come forward? Who remembers Moby?! Because of the generosity of our community, we rallied together to raise funds to help the sweetest cat in the world! We have an update for you on him! On the night of November 18th, 2023, Moby was brought in to our shelter after he seemingly had been hit by a car. He had road rash on his body and face, and a severely broken back leg. Unfazed by his injuries he was still the sweetest cat and was even making biscuits while his caretakers stabilized his leg. On November 20th, our veterinary team amputated his leg and tended to his other wounds. After surgery he went into foster and started to heal, and on December 9th he was adopted. Shortly after his adoption his new family noticed that what we thought originally was just a road rash on his ear was not healing and was rapidly getting worse. Another trip to the vet later and it was determined that he had a large malignant growth that was quickly spreading over his entire ear. Moby went back in for surgery again to remove the cancerous tissue and the vet noticed he had a suspicious looking spot on his other ear as well. Not wanting to take any chances they removed that tissue as well and sent it in for testing and it turned out that that was cancerous as well. Ever since his ear surgeries he has been the happiest boy, enjoying his new live with his loving family.

Day 2 of our Virtual Kitten Shower - One of the most frequently used tools with tiny kittens that come in are the Miracle Nipple and KMR kitten formula. Last year alone we took in approximately 400 kittens! As you can imagine, that is a LOT of formula and nipples! If you are inclined to help us prepare for the busiest part of the year, we would be grateful for a donation of both of these necessities. https://www.whsadopt.org/wishlist/

Our Princess Pie. A staff favorite. As much as we love her, the shelter is not the place for any animal to live full time. She has been with us for over a year and a half after she was surrendered due to no fault of her own. She is perfect in every way. She doesn’t require a lot of energy and is the best snuggle buddy. Her only requirement is she must be the only animal in the house. There has to be someone out there that only wants one pet to love! Please help us get her to that person. Our Shelter

The shelter in Watertown can be traced back to as early as the 1920s where two compassionate souls cared for homeless animals on their farm. Since that time, the Watertown Humane Society has been not only a beacon of hope for pets in this area, but also a sanctuary for all the people who love them.

Our shelter is so special...we have long term resident cats living out their lives in the warmth of our four walls. We have dogs that languished in the south find their second chance with our heartwarming communities. We have volunteers that have given their extra hours, their saturdays and their pockets for over 25 years. We welcome you to become a part of our shelter...
