We welcome to the world 7 toy f1b aussiedoodles. 5 boys 2 girls! They are perfect! We can’t wait to share their journey with you. Our waitlist is open if you want one of these babies to go home with you.
Puppies go home this weekend, so tonight they got a box of their go home blankets and stuffies to get scented like their litter. Go home day is a huge transition in their little lives, and we hope that having something that smells like us helps them to adapt a little easier to their new life.

Fear windows and why we keep our puppies for 10 weeks:
This morning we took the same walk we have been making for a couple of weeks but instead of excited puppies we had fearful pups! It took a long time to coax them away from the comfort of the deck and a couple ended up running home instead of joining our walk. This is a NORMAL part of puppy development!
Fear periods are temporary windows of developmental and cognitive change that typically occur 1-2 times during the first year of a dog's life. They often present with sudden behavioral changes that can be alarming to an unsuspecting dog owner, as they can involve the dog developing a "spookiness" or suspicion towards new things.
These periods actually serve a functional purpose in a pup's development. During these windows, your dog's brain is undergoing massive reorganization and change, and your dog's body is biologically preparing for more independence and self-sufficiency.
It's important for dogs to develop a pattern of things that are safe, and things that are to be avoided. But it's our job to ensure that those patterns aren't skewed by unpleasant experiences.
Typically puppies are sent home right about today, just as these periods are suddenly hitting a puppy. We feel that instead of such upheavals, we should help the puppies through these windows by continuing to gently and consistently asking them to stretch their capacities instead of slamming them into huge changes.
We know people can’t wait to welcome their new friend, but we promise that waiting these two more weeks is important for their lifelong resilience. Look at this video of puppies on the log today vs the ones taken just yesterday. Instead of playing and being comfortable they are whining and working hard to just regulate. What a difference a day makes!

Puppies learning stairs
Part of teaching resilience to puppies is helping them to feel the pride of overcoming their fear. It is very compelling to want to pick them up when they are scared or resistant, but instead we chear on each puppy to face their fear. We never force them, we just stay with them until they succeed then give them huge snuggles and exciting new adventures. Here are the puppies first learning how to go down the stairs a huge accomplishment on their way to becoming self sufficient and amazing family pets!
6 week old puppy playtime
With puppy culture training we aim to introduce the puppies to new items daily, and rotate toys to avoid boredom. Puppies have a need for mental stimulation, novelty, scavenging, sniffing, tearing and ripping, and lots of play. Today we gave the puppies a snuffle mat to practice foraging, a new foraging toy, an egg carton to tear up, a baby toy with lights and sounds to get desensitized by, and a cat toy that sounds like a mouse. It was so fun for the puppies to play with all of these new things.
