Our Re*****on Park (Fort Drum) Rescue. For the time being we are naming him Remi (Re*****on). He is such a sweet soul. Literally melts right into you. He is intact, about 10 months to one year old.

We are going to hold him for 10 days, to try and find the owners, will vaccinate and vet him in the meantime (de-worm, tick&flea prevention etc), give him some training and then place him if we cannot find the owners.

Please call us at 315-277-2753 if you are the owner or know who this dog belongs to.

We currently cannot place him. Dogs must be held for 10 days and an active attempt to find the owners has to be made!

WE HAVE YOUR DOG!

Found on Fort Drum at the Re*****on Park Gazebo.

Breed: German Shepherd
Age: 10 monthish

He still had a leash attached to him. Poor dog did not want to leave the area, likely due to the available resources. Our friend Kevin waited for as long as he could. MP’s could not assist, so Tim went out and helped Kevin to get him.

We are unsure if he was abandoned or lost. He is overall underweight and undermuscled but not the worst we have seen.

Either way, when dogs get lost and people say they are friendly, 9 times out of 10, the lost dog is in complete flight. THIS is what flight looks like! They are straight up panicked and don’t know what is happening.

If you know whose dog this is, please contact us tomorrow at 315 277 2753

We will get him scanned for a microchip tomorrow. For the timebeing, he is safe with us.

This week is going to be scorching hot. Please, be aware that these temperatures cannot only cause heat strokes in your dogs but also seriously burn their paws off:

🔥 keep your dogs cool
🔥 limit time outside, only take them out to potty. The majority of dogs are not conditioned to these temperatures
🔥 walk them early in the morning or at night
🔥 keep your dogs hydrated, in shade with a fan going if you do spend time outside
🔥 if you take them swimming, check for blue green algae
🔥 do NOT leave them in a closed car!
🔥 practice common sense. In this case, if its too hot for you, it is most certainly too hot for your dogs.

Why dog training isn’t cheap!

We get dogs that will hit the end of the leash so hard that it feels like they are about to break your arm. No matter how much upper body strength you have, how much you brace yourself for the impact, its repetitive impact that hits your shoulder and elbow.

It is very similar to a tennis elbow and it hurts, it hurts a lot.

On top of that we get scrached, bruised and bit up.

That being said, we still love what we are doing. ☺️

This is a reminder to wash and disinfect not just your food&water bowls but also your dog toys. 😉

Hello, handsome 😊
Welcome Belgian Malinois Kaiba (someone must be into Anime 😁) to our Board & Train.

Kaiba came yesterday and he is 100% in a fear phase and a bit of a scaredy cat right now.

Please, give your puppies grace. They have very big feelings. If they scream, do not console but work them through it with confidence. Don’t freak out, don’t make it a big deal, or else it will be a big deal.

Reactivity, Suspicion and Fear go hand in hand at this age.

What many people don’t know is that we have been taking in a lot of foster dogs over the years. Within the last 2 or 3 years, we have taken in 8 Foster Dogs, 6 of which we have been able to place. 3 of them came from Lewis County, 2 from the local pound, and the others were personal owner surrenders to us.

We had to euthanize 2 dogs.

Tawny: Tawny is a Belgian Malinois x Shepherd Mix that was too much for her owners to handle. She was placed with a wonderful client of ours that later pcs’ed. She is living the best life.

Trigger: Trigger became an Explosive Detection dog at a Canadian Airport, he was our first Lewis County dog.

Nala: Nala became a legitimate Service Dog, she was an owner surrender to us.

Briggs: is in a foster to adopt with our very own Marissa and still visits us every day. He is also a Lewis County dog.

Ivy: Ivy is a very well bred Showline GSD that to no fault of her own ended up coming to us. Through communication with the breeder and knowing a wonderful family was looking she was placed with her new family.

Haven: Haven is also a well bred Showline GSD that got into a bad situation due to his family losing a loved one and the husband having bad health. Haven is now back with his wonderful breeder.

Luca: Luca came for a Board & Train from the Lewis County Shelter and then continued to stay in a Foster situation since he did not do well in the Shelter environment. He is leaving today!!! 😍

Ghost: Ghost came from the Jefferson Dog Pound, he is a wonderful Bullterrier that we got into the Bullterrier Rescue and he got adopted.

Diggs: Diggs was heartbreaking. We all loved Diggs. We were able to get her adopted to a disabled Veteran whose health started failing and she came back to us. Her extreme prey drive towards children required a very specific type of home. That type of home just wasn’t available. In the end, it was too dangerous and she was humanely euthanized. It turned out that her brother had the same issues. Having to euthanize Diggs almost broke us but knowing what could happen if she ever got out was not worth it.

Turbo: Turbo was an awesome little Corgi. However, he had a rather high level of aggression and was not adoptable. He didn’t fare well at the shop and despite getting a proper outlet escalated. We tried everything from working with Rescues to trying to find him a sport home. No Rescue wanted him because of his baggage. Unfortunately, we had to make a tough decision because it wasn’t fair to let him deteriorate.

Rescuing involves making hard decisions. But seeing all of these success stories makes it worth it.

We have had many other dogs we have helped in bad situations, unfortunately, some of them we can’t name or talk about due to privacy reasons.

We will continue to help as long as we are in the position to help. ❤️

We have helped ownertrain a lot of Service Dogs over the years but honestly, I am done with owner trainers. We get requests on almost a daily basis and just from the inquiries I can say that 95% of the requests are trash!

- Resource Guarding
- Dog Aggression
- Defensiveness
- Health Issues with dogs
- Severe Injuries

If you truly need a Service Dog, you can pay us to find a dog for you.

Right now, we have the opportunity for a wonderful suitable Golden Puppy.

You need a Service Dog, we will find and train the dog but don’t come with an inquiry of training your resource guarding Cane Corso as a Psych Dog that does not want to be touched by people and then question us why your dog can’t be a Service Dog!

Enough already, you are not proficient enough to select a dog for Service Dog work. Let us professionals do our jobs properly.

If you are looking for Service Dog or a started dog, we will do it for you. Please, contact us at:

"Researchers at the University of California, Davis, have updated their guidelines on when to neuter 40 popular dog varieties by breed and s*x. Their recent paper in Frontiers in Veterinary Science adds five breeds to a line of research that began in 2013 with a study that suggested that early neutering of golden retrievers puts them at increased risk of joint diseases and certain cancers."
And there are 2 breeds (one s*x) they recommend not sterilizing. Fascinating!

I don’t think you could possibly ask more from a 6-7 month old puppy. I am super excited for her owners to come and see her today. She is simply the most perfect puppy with the best possible temperament you could have.

Also, watch Riley handle Nala and the skill level she has when it comes to conditioning dogs. ❤️

I am going to be so sad when this little Labrador is leaving us tomorrow. 😭

Sometimes you get dogs that are so incredibly easy to train and live with. She is just about 6-7 months old and we couldn’t ask for more out of her. She is perfection. The only thing the owners have to wait for now is maturity. Because otherwise, she is the perfect puppy. This is a dog that would actually qualify as a Service Dog or Therapy Dog.

Guys, if you don’t expect your six year old kids to have perfect behavior all day, every day…. then why do you expect it from your baby dogs?

No one bats with an eye if a six year old kid cannot control their impulses, run and scream around with their sibblings like maniacs… climbs up trees, wrecks havoc with their legos in their room…

This is no different than a six month old dog playing with their water bowl, toilet paper, zooming around the living room…

They do not have the mental capacity for adult behavior.

You have to teach and manage young dogs. The main difference is that dogs reach maturity much quicker than we do. ;)
