For those who missed last nights post - our client was struck by a car at the crosswalk outside our business while trying to get to his ride share. The carrier busted open and his two cats bolted. We found one but the other is still missing. She is a little bit bigger than in this photo.
Please check your sheds and under your porches if you are in our immediate area.

She’s a little bit bigger than this now. Hopefully we will have success when the weather clears up. Our staff jumped into action and were out searching for a few hours - and traps were set with the help of Charles River Alleycats

*Update 12/19: Rosa was found safe!*

*MISSING CAT*

*Update: We have a few potential sightings but we haven’t been able to trap or catch yet. Please continue to call sightings in immediately so we can dispatch somebody to the area or figure out the best place to put another trap. If you are in the area of Heal Veterinary Clinic, please check your cameras, garages, and under sheds and cars! Please do not chase as the cat is most likely very frightened.*

These cats were leaving the vet tonight on Belmont Street when them and their owner were hit by a car. Their crate was destroyed and they both got loose. The cat with the black nose on the right has been caught but the circled cat in the picture is still missing. If you spot this cat, please take a photo and call 857-417-3474 immediately.

I just received the liver panel results for two of the owls that died in our area late last month. This includes a Barred Owl that died in someone's backyard in East Arlington next to Spy Pond and the Great Horned Owl that died in another person's yard in Cushing square area of Belmont. Both owls were exposed to extremely high levels of anticoagulant rodenticides that are considered in the lethal range. The gross necropsy performed by our partnering vet prior to sending their livers to the pathology lab that also showed internal hemorrhaging in both owls, particularly the Great Horned Owl. This means that three out of the four owls that died late last month in our area died of anticoagulant poisoning. I will be submitting these results to MDAR next week.

Update on the crow we saw this week!

Belmont Crow, patiently waiting (and GLARING at me) for breakfast and recycling pick up. 🤣❤️🐦‍⬛

No, that's not a turd. It's a regurgitated pellet! All internal systems working perfectly! 😉😀✅️

Seeing more improvement today, tiny bits at a time. I am thrilled to report we are eating on our own and very much enjoy our defrosted frozen feeder mice. He's even ripping them apart on his own.

His balance is slowly returning, once I see that he can right himself from his back, he will get more space. It's a long process.

While Crows are considered "songbirds" they have a very different digestive system from the smaller, more melodic sounding birds, and eat a wider variety of food items. The passing of pellets allows the crow to remove indigestible material from its proventriculus, or glandular stomach. Pellets contain hair, claws, feathers, teeth, bones, seeds, small rocks...anything indigestible. Pellets are formed within six to ten hours of a meal in the bird's gizzard (muscular stomach).

We will keep you all updated! 🙏❤️🐦‍⬛
