Brownie is a sweet 1-year-old pup who was surrendered to us through no fault of his own—his previous family could no longer care for him, and now he’s looking for a new start. He’s neutered, up to date on vaccines, and ready to find a comfortable place to call home.

While he can be a bit nervous at first, Brownie warms up with time and affection. He’s good with some dogs but is unsure about cats and would do best in a home with kids 7 and older. **PEANUT WAS ADOPTED :) **

Calling all small dog lovers ❤️

Peanut is a 10-year-old dog with a heartbreaking past. She was originally surrendered with her bonded companion, but tragically had to say goodbye to him due to medical reasons. After that, Peanut found a new home, only to be returned when things didn’t work out due to her barking too much and the landlord having issues with it.

Despite her tough journey, she remains sweet and playful, especially with her squeaky toys. She’s lived with cats before and got along well, and with the right guidance, she would likely do great with kids who understand boundaries. Peanut may be an older girl, but she still has a playful spirit and so much love to give. If interested in her, please come in during open hours and meet her. We do in person adoptions and do not do any holds.

We are preparing for our love 2 litter fundraiser this year!

Starting on 2/1/25 For a donation of $5, you can write your ex's name on a paper heart and throw it in one of our shelter litter boxes. For a donation of $20 we will write your ex's name in permanent marker on one of our many litter boxes as a furever memento of their mistake 😉

Donations can be made in person, over the phone or online at our website www.hswa.org. Get your pens ready! 😁

Karmen is a sweet, resilient dog who came to us from a heartbreaking situation. Around 6-8 years old, she was kept outside in the cold and neglected, with scars from an attack by another dog. When she first arrived, she slept for days, completely exhausted but so grateful to have a warm blanket and a meal. 😔💕

Despite her past, Karmen is a gentle soul who greets everyone with love and seems to get along well with other dogs. We are unsure of cats, and we believe she’d be fine with kids. Her true personality is just beginning to shine, and she's currently on antibiotics as she continues to heal. Karmen is looking for a foster-to-adopt home where she can finally feel safe and loved. If you'd like to meet her, come visit — she's ready to find her forever family.

Tacko is an eight-year-old shelter dog who has waited far too long for a family to call his own. Despite his calm demeanor and good manners—he’s housebroken, knows commands, and is great on a leash—he’s still here, unnoticed by the people who could change his life. He enjoys the company of adults and is ok with some dogs, but he’s never known the warmth of a permanent home. He needs a home with children 12+ and no cats.

He’s not asking for much—just a quiet place, some love, and the security of a family who will cherish him. Each day he waits, his heart grows heavier, hoping for a second chance, yet the world continues to pass him by. If you’re out there, maybe you can be the one to finally give him the forever home he deserves. ❤️

Good morning everyone!! Such a gorgeous day! We think today would be a great day to meet some of our available cats (and dogs of course)! While you're at HSWA please take the time to meet Buff! He's a big beautiful boy who is ready to go to his furever home. He's 4 1/2 years old and does need to be the only pet. Kids are fine as long as they're a little older and can understand his boundaries. He can get a little overstimulated but would do perfect in a nice calm environment. He's like alot of cats. Likes to be the king of the house. Haha! He's very cuddly, loves sunbathing, climbing up to high places for naps and of course treats!! He's a favorite here at the humane society and we are very dedicated to finding him the purrrfect home!! HSWA is open 12 to 4:30 today! 🌤😻🐾💙💕

**ADOPTED** 😻😻😻 Hi everyone! I'm Tommy from the humane society in Waterville!! I'm 6 years old and the sweetest boy. I'm really craving attention here and need a furever home where I can thrive! I am FIV positive (feline immunodeficiency virus) so I do need someone that understands FIV and my needs. FIV+ and FIV- cats can live together as long as they stay indoors and interact peacefully. I enjoy long naps in the sun, bird watching, eating treats and tons of snuggles. I get along great with everybody! Come meet me and see for yourself! And as always please rescue, foster, adopt and donate! It really does take a village! 😻💙🐈
