Here is a current list of all of the animal control/dog control officers and their contact information. This list is courtesy of lost dogs of the finger lakes. They keep this updated throughout the year.

As of today 1/1/2025 all lost and found dogs in Schuyler County will be taken to and sheltered by Southern Tier Animal Control.
We will miss working with the amazing staff and volunteers at the Humane Society of Schuyler County. We are all extremely disappointed that an agreement couldn’t be reached between the towns and the shelter. However, Lets please try to remember that STAC is not the enemy, he simply accepted a job that was offered to him.
Let us all continue to work together to keep all the dogs in Schuyler County safe and sound.

Starting at 12AM on 1/1/25, Schuyler County will begin working with the Southern Tier Animal Control in Elmira NY for sheltering services. Unfortunately, we will no longer be contracted with the Humane Society of Schuyler County for animal related calls. If you have any animal complaints, lost dogs, found dogs, or concerns please reach out to the Schuyler County Sheriffs Office at 607-535-8222. With simple questions please reach out to the Animal Control Officer directly at 607-535-8239.

UPDATE!!! 12/28 FOUND SAFE!!

Flyers/posters for the win! Finny’s mom got right to distributing the flyers we made. A customer at Blue Ribbon diner saw it. She later spotted Finny and was pretty sure it was the dog that she saw earlier on the poster, she called the blue ribbon diner. They sent her a picture of the flyer and sure enough she had found him on Cronk Road. We got in touch with his mom who got there right away and was able to lure him to safety!!

MISSING!! 12/26 Montour
Sweet Mr Finny was visiting from out of town when he went missing from near the intersection of Coykendall, Hawks View & Park Hill Rds in Montour.
He and a sibling dog went out for a quick morning adventure, the sibling returned but Finny did not. Finny is not wearing his collar but he is microchipped. Finny is a medium/large size dog, approximately 20" tall.
Finny is a friendly guy but can be a quite shy. So if you see him, please just keep your eyes on him from a distance and call his extremely worried Mom at 607-535-6174 or us at 607-425-8000

FOUND: Female kitten found on East 2nd Street in Watkins Glen. If she's yours or you know where she belongs, please call the Humane Society of Schuyler County at 607-594-2255 ext 203. Please leave a message if you get our voicemail. Please note: Kitten is in foster care.

UPDATE!! HOME SAFE!!

FOUND!! 12/6 Odessa

This pretty lady was found earlier this evening on 224 and Cotton Hanlon in Odessa.
She has already found her way to a nice warm room at The Humane Society of Schuyler County. If you know who this lovely lass is or where she belongs, please give them a call at 607-594-2255 ext. 201

This pretty lady was found this morning on Wyncoop Road in Van Etten. She is not wearing a collar and does not have a microchip. If you know where she belongs please contact us at 607-594-2255 .

UPDATE!! 11/25 Buster has been FOUND SAFE!!!

MISSING!! 11/19 Reading/Rock Stream

Buster, a light tan, slightly scruffy, cream colored Jack Russel/Chihuahua mix is missing from his home on Spencer Rd in Reading/Rock Stream. Buster was being taken care of by a family member as one of his elderly owners is in long term care and the other has been in the hospital for a month. Buster went missing Tuesday 11/19, he had been put outside on a tie out cable, to hang out on the porch and when the caretaker came back he was gone. When last seen Buster was wearing a black collar with a green stripe.

UPDATE!! FOUND SAFE!!!

MISSING!! 11/22 Burdett/Hector
This friendly senior guy, Iroquois, is missing from his home in the 3800 area of Mathews rd. He was let out for a quick potty break while the family ate dinner. They soon realized that he didn't come right back and bark to come in like he always does. They did a thorough search of their property and Mathews road with no luck.
Iroquois is 14 years old, blind and deaf so he might have gotten confused and turned around with the new fallen snow.
Iroquois is wearing a red collar with his rabies tag. If you see this sweet, senior fella please give us a call at 607-425-8000

UPDATE!! Found safe!! AirTag for the win!! Drove up and down pretty much every cottage Road from Cherry Landing to Mapes-Matthews. Unfortunately we were all just a little too far north to get her AirTag to ping on our phones. We are so glad that Pippa is safe before this snowstorm hits.

Wary of Strangers - Please Do NOT try to catch her as she will flee!!

Pippa was going for a ride with her Grandparents when she jumped out of the car on 414 between Barnes Rd and Lamoreaux Rd.
Pippa is wearing the collar shown in the photo that does have her moms contact information on it. She is also wearing a neon orange harness.
Pippa is wary of strangers so please don't try to approach or catch her. Instead please call her extrememely worried mom at 607-342-5324 immediately.
