Has anyone seen this little one?

UPDATE!! 9/26 Nelly has been FOUND SAFE!!
We had the family hanging scent items from their home and cooking meat outside the house where she disappeared at. We let them know it might take a few days for her to calm down and pop her head out and like clockwork on about day three she made her presence known nearby. They persisted and today she came back and popped back out at the house she disappeared from. They were able to coax her in and get her to safety!!
A HUGE thank you to Rebecca who was the voice for and point of contact for her Amish neighbor who otherwise might not have known who to call or where to turn to for help with locating their dog.

UPDATE!! 9/26 We have a SIGHTING!! Details are a little fuzzy, unfortunately all I've really gotten is that she was in the town of covert she was spotted by some Amish so I can't exactly call them to try and pinpoint the location. BUT it is good to know that she has been seen. We are dispatching some people to the general area of the sighting to start distributing flyers and making contact with people. Hopefully some more sightings will start rolling in.

MISSIING!! 9/22 - Interlaken/Trumansburg

Nelly, a long-haired miniature dachshund went missing last night at approximately 5:30. She jumped from a car near the intersection of CR 142 and Halls corners Road.
Nelly who lives up to her name is extremely nervous and skittish of strangers.
Her home is with an Amish family on Vesa Road so she could be anywhere between the point of escape and her home.
If seen please keep your distance and give us a call or text at 607-425-8000

Note: this is not an actual picture of Nelly. But the closest we could get with the stock photos off the Internet.

Tabby cats! We've got them!
Whiskey is a sweet tabby boy. He may do best being adopted with a friend or having a cat of similar age and personality in the home. Whiskey is very affectionate. He loves people and will sit with you for lots of cuddles! Hot pursuit and wand toys are some of his favorite things to play with. Whiskey like to wrestle with his roommates and nap in cozy beds. If you are looking for terrific tabby boy, stop by to meet Whiskey!
Whiskey is about 5 months old and tested negative for FIV & FeLV and is micro-chipped.

Buckle up for some hard truths.

Shelters across the US are in crisis. Many are so full they’ve had to stop taking animals.

This is not a shelter problem. It’s a community problem.

FACTS:
Animals are being surrendered and abandoned faster than they’re adopted.
They’re being bred faster than we can save them.
They’re being given up on faster than we can rehome them.

If your local shelter is overflowing or forced to euthanize for space, it isn’t because they don’t care. It’s because the community has to do better.

What can help?

✔ Education about behavior, socialization, dog body language, effective training methods and bite prevention
✔ Resources for families adding babies/kids to homes with dogs
✔ Pet food pantries & community support
✔ Low-cost spay/neuter, microchipping & TNR programs
✔ More fosters, adopters & volunteers
✔ Honest conversations about future care if pets outlive us
❌ Less backyard breeding and puppy mills
❌ Less housing breed restrictions
❌ Less irresponsible, fly by night "rescues"
❌ Less aversive trainers making behavior issues worse by suppressing communication and body language

We don’t need to blame shelters. We need to step up as communities.
