I don’t usually post pictures or stories like this but this girl deserves her story heard.
The end of summer I got a text asking if we would adopt this horse. She was kid friendly, sound, everything we wanted to hear. We decided she would be a great companion and beginning horse for my oldest. Little did we know after her coming home she was lame, had a vet come look at her they told me to put her down. I couldn’t get anyone to take the time to see her or give her their time. We struggled with pain with weight. My oldest had her heart broken. Nik decided he wasn’t going to give up on her. We finally found a vet who was willing to sacrifice everything. She had broken and fractured teeth, almost 2 1/2 hrs of dental work done. Extreme soaked food, 3 times a day feeding grain. Expensive pain management and love.
I pulled her out of the barn stall yesterday and watched her run and roll and she looks so good. I cried watching her. This is why Nik and I have fallen in love with this life style. We love rescuing these animals and giving them a better life.
I got to see with my own eyes what love and compassion can do for these animals. I will admit I felt defeated and was ready to put her down, she had become so painful and skinny and when we couldn’t find a vet to help I didn’t know what to do. I’m glad we have the connections and friends we have or we would have never gotten her to this point..
These pictures were taken of her yesterday and I’m at an aw how amazing she looks and feels. I didn’t think we could ever gotten to this point of saving…

Some pictures of everyone staying warm, bg found the heated boarders lounge and liked the heater on his bum. Yesterday’s nice weather gave a taste of fresh air yesterday being able to be turned out of stalls..

This weekend is going to be freezing. Going to be a long week of preparing for Negative temps..

Really cold temps and horrible wind makes it difficult to go outside, we still have to be out every few hrs breaking waters, feeding and checking on everyone… hope everyone is staying safe and warm…

Got the boys out for a nice walk today. Went to vet yesterday got good news! They have quite a bit of a story.. scooby and shaggy will have a great life with us from here on out…
