Happy National Veterinary Technician Week!

It's National Veterinary Technician Week! 🥳 break out the cake, unfurl the banners, launch the confetti, unleash the puppies, and most importantly - treat yo self.

We are so excited to celebrate with NAVTA's theme, "Credentialed Veterinary Technicians Change Lives." We're a little biased, but we also wholeheartedly believe in this. Sure, we save lives - it comes with the job - but we also change lives. We change the lives of pet owners, shelter pets, ranchers, stray cats and dogs, our coworkers, our families, debilitated wildlife, our friends, a stranger at the store, our pets - from the small gestures to the whole-hearted efforts, we create ripples across an ocean of lives.

This career is hard; there's no easy path, and to the world you might just be one person - but I guarantee beyond the shadow of a doubt that you, yes you reading this, have changed someone's life. Maybe you were assisting with a euthanasia room and the owner caught your misty eyes - in that moment you shared the love for their pet and a profound sadness for their passing - and in that moment, they were not alone. Maybe your coworker was having a no good very bad day, and you simply cracked a joke or shot them a smile that turned it all around. Maybe someone was heartsick and anxiously had been waiting by their phone all day - then they picked up their pet with a paper bag of medications covered in cute doodles and hearts from you, and they were not so anxious the next time they left their pet at the vet for the day. Maybe someone who felt so unseen got to see you post them with their pet on social media with a cute caption and couldn't believe their eyes. Maybe someone who was learning something new was too nervous to ask a question, but you leaned over and offered an explanation that helped them succeed. You may never know how one tiny drop changed someone's whole tide.

We hope during this week you get to appreciate how amazing you are. Thank you for all that you do - this world is a better place with you in it.

Happy Vet Tech Week ❤

About us

Southern Hearts Animal Hospital is a small animal general practice hospital. We strive to provide personal and individual care to dogs and cats of all sizes and shapes! We enjoy serving the families of our community. We are located in lovely Watkinsville, Georgia, an amazing community full of history and warmth.

We are locally owned and operated. There is a current trend of large business corporations buying small privately owned veterinary hospitals. We believe this takes away from the personal and individual care that we strive for. This also impacts the local communities economically. We live in the communities we serve.

Dr. Mandy Cox has lived in the community for 20 years and been a veterinarian for over 16 years. She enjoys getting to know her clients and their pets.

We provide preventative medicine, internal medicine, radiology, in-house blood work, dental procedures and surgery.
