I’m always posting pictures of completed mounts. The tanning,neutralizing and shaving process is just as important as the mounting process in order to produce a high quality mount. Here is a Time lapse of the shaving / thinning process on a tanned deer cape. After this process , the cape will then go through a final/detail thinning process around the eyes,lips and nostrils. This was a fun project. We molded the actual fish and casted a fiberglass reproduction of it. Every detail and imperfection is identical to the original fish. It might not seem to be a lot of work, but many hours went into this piece. I personally think that brown trout are one of the toughest fish to paint without looking “painted”
