Horse Trailer Safety: The Importance of an Annual Inspection (ASI)

Our team uses a 93 point checklist to get a full picture of your trailer's condition to identify potential issues that could compromise your horse's safety.

Key components of our ASI:
🐴 Brakes and Breakaway Battery: Proper functioning brakes are essential for safe stopping.
🐴 Wheels, Tires, and Wheel Bearings: Proper maintenance of these components is crucial for preventing breakdowns. This includes checking tire pressure and tread, inspecting wheels for damage, and ensuring wheel bearings are properly lubricated.
🐴 Lights and Electrical: Ensure all lights, including headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals, are working correctly.
🐴 Hitch: Inspect the hitch connection and safety chains for wear and tear, ensuring a secure connection to your vehicle.
🐴 Frame and Floor: Check for broken welds and signs of structural weakness as well as corrosion, rust, or rotten floors.

Update from Thomson and Hurricane Helene recovery: Now that GA Power has largely fixed their lines, Jefferson Electric can work on their lines. I have attached a screenshot of Jefferson Electric's outage map.

I am working with New Thomson United Methodist Church and we are currently running a food bank. As the power starts to come back on, the needs of the highest risk are changing. They are starting to look at the trees in their houses and holes in their roofs.

Mom and Dad have offered to use the trailer shop as a hub and the flatbed to bring things down if y'all have donations and can get them to Bishop, then Allison Creek will get them down here. We also have a wonderful individual who might be able to come pick up from Athens, Oconee, Greene, Oglethorpe and a few others.

Drop off location: Allison Creek Trailer Shop 4791 Macon Hwy, Bishop, GA

Drop off hours: 9am to 3pm. After hours can be arranged, but reach out to me or message the Allison Creek Farm and Services page.

For those of you that know Stacey at Allison Creek, know her words of wisdom when it comes to horses. Call her for help with with your horse, and you have surely had her tell you to "loook up" at least once!
Well those are two great words for many things in life.
In our trailer shop we want to say " look up" too. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE " look up " under your trailer at least once a year and certainly if you're considering buying one.
We're looking for the simple things like corrosion, broken welds or cross members, rotten boards and excessive amounts of grease.
