Self haltering gone wrong.
I've been working with Jake on self haltering. That's when he puts his head in the halter himself when I hold it out to him. He did it so perfectly on Monday I said to myself darn I wish I got that on video.
So I got Noah to video us today....but all Jake wanted to do was eat the halter😅🤣
Horses 💁♀️
Even though he follows me around the arena, well, he does still get distracted by yummy grass at the edges of the fence. But after a few minutes of a snack, he always comes back over to me to hag out.🥰
I had so much fun just playing around with Jake last night 🤣 he follows me everywhere, and trots when I jog, and jumps when I jump 😁
We have built up a relationship over the last 4 years. Even though I've done some things with him I would never do now he still trusts me anyways 🥰 he's the best

Backing up a horse...
This is not the "finished product." I want him to lower his head, relax his lower neck, and lift his back. But he does have some level of softness and relaxation. I see so many sale videos of horses backing up with hands grabbing and forcing them backwards, and the horses nose is either in the air inverting their backs horribly or their nose is jammed to their chest. Their eyes are buldging, mouth gapeing, and they are the very opposite of soft and relaxed. It makes my body cringe all over, and I can't imagine how it makes the horse feel.
Jake has learned to brace and compensate for his balance issues the fist 14 years of his life due to past training with old owners and past training with me. I didn't start doing things with him differently until he was 15 (last year). So at coming 16 years we are doing things the way we should have from the start, but it's not too late to still have some great changes.
*I normally wear a helmet 😬
One of my favorite things to do is play with my own horses🩷
The first day I was on the property of the hoarding case, I rounded the corner, and here was this mare that stared straight into my soul. She stopped me dead in my tracks. I gave her a quick pet and told her I'd find her a better home. I dismissed the weird feeling that happened and took home Abby the mare with the large infected wound. As we were working on homes being lined up, I thought I had one for this mare, but it fell through. I wasn't too worried and just kept trucking along, moving the others.
Since then, I've played with her a handful of times. She's very sweet and soulful. For being apox 10 years old, only halter broke and not having lots of exposure she's a pretty quiet nice girl. She's been helping me re gain some confidence I've lost in myself and letting me try out new things on her. This was the first time we worked on some free lunging in the round pen. Afterward, I couldn't get her to leave my side.
She may have gouges in her neck from growths that were removed years ago, and an old hoof injury, but she sure is pretty!😍 Also thought she was a full QH but the old owners swear she's half QH half Saddlebred and that she was born on their farm 🤣
Video of the 4 girls unloading just for funzies 😁
Last Wednesday I found out Earl had pneumonia. On Thursday Bach choked. On Friday the fridgid weather came in. Needless to say I was really worried for my 2 oldest guys. Here you can see they made it and are feeling great. ❤
Taught 10-430 then played with our pony. My child is a weirdo 🤪
