Soggie Doggie

Soggie Doggie In May, 2018, when Jack Russell number three, JR, arrived at R-Horizon Farm, new adventures and challenges came along. Soggie Doggie was officially born.

On one of our first outings with JR we encountered a small stream where he was persistent on getting in, splashing around, and at times even pulling me off balance just to stay in the water. As summer progressed it was evident that JR loved the water. We started with a small inflatable, transitioned a few times quickly from there and soon found ourselves frequenting a big plastic pool. It was neve

r fun when Fall came around and we had to empty the pool for winter. In the fall of 2020, a retired farm building became available and, ‘Walla’! A dedicated building where a pool could be fully enclosed and insulated for year-round swimming. The pool at Soggie Doggie is heated to a consistent temperature keeping the building comfortable, along with added play time in our half acre yard. Soggie Doggie offers multiple opportunities for you and your best furry friend. Private rental times, group session and classes are available to swim and play for all dogs. Whether it be conditioning to keep your pup in top form, weight loss, improved mobility, confidence building or even the sheer pleasure of a fun, bonding experience. Our wish is that you share the same enjoyment with swimming your dog as we have. At Soggie Doggie, it’s all about the dog!

So it was Friday night frolics with Shasta at Soggie Doggie. Shasta is a working dog and takes very good care of her owner. In return this is her reward. We love being an outlet for these hard working canines. If you have a service dog that deserves a little PTO let us know!

Lexi was so thrilled to come and swim at Soggie Doggie on Saturday. Like many labs she was not ready for her time to come to an end. No worries Lexi we are here all year long! See you again soon!

This was super fun on Saturday! Ben brought Bandit, an 8 month old Blue Heeler/Bordie Collie rescue, for his swim evaluation. Ben followed all my instructions perfectly. Bandit was a little stand offish at first but he warmed up pretty quickly, with the toy toss. I think Ben was pleasantly surprised at his first time performance! Because Bandit has not been a member of the family very long I'm already seeing a strong bond between them. I see a bright future for this great team!

Loki and Louie have come along way since their first visit. Louie (in the red jacket) was always a little more confident. Loki is young and is learning to start using the hind legs a little better. Is not uncommon for new swimmers to use more front end than back end. It all comes together eventually and they become super swimmers!

It was a fun night with Tunny and George. George is the cutest little rescue that is always in the shadows of his mentor Tunny. Peas in a Pod they are not far from each other at any given time. We used this as an aid to help George get comfortable with the pool. Tunny proved to be the perfect asset to George's success. Of course mom was a huge help in the comfort department. We are slowly working on independence and confidence but until then in the pool every time!
