Good morning! It sure doesn't seem like summer should be winding down and school should have started already. But here we are getting ready for a long weekend coming up!

The clinic will be open our normal hours on Saturday Aug 31st and Tuesday, Sept 3rd.

We will be closed on Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day.

I can't believe that we are already 6 months in on 2024! Where has time gone? Next week is already the week of the 4th of July! The clinic will be closed on July 4th and 5th. If you have an emergency during that time, please contact Blue Pearl Pet Hospital @ 515-727-4872.

Our team is ready to assist you! Please give us a call if your pet is in need of a check up, we do have availability this week and next. If you need to pick up your pet's routine medication(s) or flea/tick preventatives we would be more than happy to assist you with those as well. We understand that this time of year can also be very scary for many cats and dogs with the loud fireworks and storms. Don't hesitate to inquire about how we can help make them more comfortable during this time.

Your Pet Needs an I.D. Too

Ensure your pets wear a collar with a clear I.D., and secure your yard to prevent escapes. It only takes one guest leaving a gate or door open for your beloved pet to get loose. A lot of pet owners don't place collars on their cat for fear they will get caught on something. There are break away collars specifically for this reason. Another safe addition or alternative would be to ensure your pet is microchipped. Give us a call if you would like to have your pet microchipped. If you are unsure if your pet has one we can scan them to find out. If you have a microchip for your pet make sure all your contact information is kept up to date with the microchip company.

Keep your active dog active and osteoarthritis (OA) pain-free. Schedule an appointment to have your dog evaluated for any pre-existing conditions and/or currently prescribed medications that may interfere with NSAID treatment like PREVICOX® (firocoxib) and should be avoided. NSAIDs including PREVICOX may be associated with gastrointestinal, kidney, or liver side effects. For full PREVICOX prescribing info, click bit.ly/3ox7tby.

Even little dogs can experience pain and inflammation associated with canine osteoarthritis (OA). Schedule an appointment so we can evaluate your dog for pre-existing conditions as well as currently prescribed medications that may interfere with NSAID pain management such as METACAM® (meloxicam oral suspension) that should be avoided. NSAIDs including METACAM may be associated with gastrointestinal, kidney, or liver side effects. Do not use METACAM oral suspension in cats.
