This bull calf has already changed quite a bit since the last time I photographed him. I included a picture I took 3 months ago of him and the dam ( which is 1 of my favorite girls). I’m amazed at his color change, but really glad the dam is starting to produce offspring that resembles her

I’ve been a fan of hers since birth. We will be dehorning her and several others next week. Her Dam isnt pictured but she belongs to 1 of our 11 yr old Hargis Cows and is sired by an FMC bull.

This heifer has all the qualities we look for when selecting our replacement females. We are looking forward to her growth to finish out her potential. This is also just a really pretty, solid pair in our younger herd that we’re proud of. Her dam is a young Hargis female and she is sired by our polled bull who we call Pablo

One of our later spring arrivals. This bull calf is sired by our heifer bull and has a Hargis Ranch dam . She didn’t allow me to get real close to the pair, but I caught them walking away from the herd.

I really like this bull calf out of 1 of our brindle Hargis cows. He’s got a lot of shape to him at a young age and his docility is a plus.

Another great example of offspring out of our heifer sire. She’s polled, has a stout form, beautiful muscling down the back. She does lack in bone a little, ( which is to be expected with who her sire is), but she’ll get bred eventually to our newest sire that has more bone and I think she will produce remarkable offspring, especially with the genetic lineup

A few of our fall bull calves are starting to shape up nicely. These are all polled and out of our low bw sire that we keep out with our young females. Sire is also pictured below, standing in the shade.

Love seeing the variety of calves in this pasture. Our other herd consists mainly of red, but this 1 I wanna keep like this. Our bull calf crop way over exceeds our heifer count, but as long as there’s healthy calves on the ground, I won’t complain!

We got the new sire introduced to the young girls yesterday. We were really pleased with the offspring produced from Flint Rock’s semen on our cattle, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to own more of his genetics.

He’s not hard to spot on the place. The amount of bone this little guy has is impressive. His Dam is 1 of our lasts Salt Creek Cows on the ranch, but we’re happy to have her…. And happy to have this healthy, beautiful bull calf!

I just now realized it’s been quite a long time since I’ve last posted anything! Time gets away from ya when you’re this busy. Weve been spending every day working show calves and every free weekend chasing jackpots, etc. This is our sons 1st yr in 4H and his 1st time showing. He wanted to show calves that we raise ourselves, so we let him pick out a steer and a heifer. The heifer wasn’t our 1st pick, but she was the easier 1 to break and work with, so it helps him get an understanding of how this works. He loves the show world and now anytime we’re in the pasture checking calves, he’s constantly writing down future prospects 😁
