Tip Tuesday!
We can thank CanineCooperative on Instagram for this helpful information. While the context of this post is about dogs, you can apply similar logic for cats and other animals.

“Ever had one of those days where everything seems to go wrong, one thing after another?

You oversleep. In a rush, you step on your dog’s chewed-up Benebone (ouch! If you know, you know). No time for a shower or breakfast, so you’re already cranky and hungry when you get to work. You head to the break room for coffee, only for Linda from accounting to bump into you, spilling it all over your shirt. By the time the workday ends, you’re fried.

Exhausted, you decide to order dinner—only to find out there’s no delivery driver available tonight. That’s the breaking point. You snap at the person on the phone, venting your frustration over their lack of backup plans, and hang up in a huff.

This is trigger stacking. Each event by itself might not have sent you over the edge, but together, they piled on and pushed you far beyond your limit. The result? A reaction completely out of proportion to the final event.

Dogs experience this too. Stressful events stack up throughout the day, lowering their tolerance and making them more likely to react to things they’d normally handle just fine. Be mindful of the stressors your dog encounters, and set realistic expectations for their behavior—it’s all about understanding when they’ve hit their limit.”

Taking The Reins 4H chose to help HSMC by donating their time, supplies and sponsoring a cat adoption fee. They were a huge help this afternoon and adoptable Kate enjoyed their company 🖤 Thank you!

*No longer accepting applications at this time*

Who wants to go foraging? My name is Morel and I'm looking to spend the growing season in a home with my new family instead of in a kennel at the shelter. I'm fluffy and fun with an instinct for working and herding. I'm playful with other pets and oh so smart, too! I dare you not to fall head over paws in love with ME!
