Obesity in dogs and cats is very common and has a negative impact on their quality of life. More than 50% of dogs are obese and almost 60% of cats are obese. This can affect their exercise level which can lead to metabolic abnormities, issues with the heart, osteoarthritis, and risk having a lowered immune system causing many sick vet visits. It is important to have a measured amount of dog or cat food to give your pet. On the back of the bag of your pet's food there is a label of measurements based on weight correlated with the recommended amount, or you can talk to your vet to see what they recommend for each individual pet.
