Mayday Dairy Goats

Mayday Dairy Goats We are a small family farm, raising ADGA registered Nubians (since 1993) .... and as of 2021, registered Lamanchas.

The hardest thing about keeping a small herd is keeping a herd small….
Which is why Urban Acres GG Magic Mike will be available and looking for a new herd after this breeding season.
Candid video from this weekend of him (and our Lamancha bucks) out on pasture. Will try to get a set up picture soon.
I plan on using him again on my does August through mid-September, after which he will be seeking new ladies.

His sire is Urban Acres TS Gi**lo (out of Urban Acres Cistalia by DKGH Rock It Embassador).
His dam is Urban Acres RB Dance Party (out of Urban Acres Sock Hop by Urban Acres LMO Big Red).
His littermate sister, Urban Acres GG St******se was in ADGA’s 2023 Spotlight Sale.

He is a lovely and sweet buck, friendly and easy to handle. Tested g6s negative, DNA on file with ADGA. Whole herd tested CAE negative, last time late 2024. His kids this year are sharp looking, and I’m already looking forward to getting another kid crop from him.

Preference is for him to go to a performance herd.

Budderballs HUO Onyx is bringing home a new set of rosettes! He received Grand Champion AOP Buck in ring 3 last night.
Candid pen pic because it was too dark by the time the show was done.

Onyx is seeking a new herd, as he has worked his way out of a job here. Located in Wauseon, Ohio.

Enjoying the nice day, waiting for the Jr doe show to start.
Foxy was acting a little chilled, so Riley let her borrow her sweatshirt. (In case anyone was wondering about the stylish doe on the back left.)

Front pens, left to right, first &second pictures:

Mayday Amethyst Heart

For as little as he is actually handled, and given that our boys are used to living in their run-in barns with large wooded pastures, Onyx is taking this all in stride very well. He is such a sweet boy with a calm, laid back temperament. He’s probably my favorite out of all of Riley’s Lamanchas; I’m not looking forward to moving him on to a new herd, but he’s pretty much worked himself out of a job.

Ended up leaving later than planned/hoped, but nevertheless we made it down to Hillsboro for the SWODGA show. Got the girls and Onyx all tucked in then headed to the hotel to do the same.
Lol, and yes I’m pretty sure he’s pouting about having to be tied up. Especially after watching his daughter Amy, R’s two year old experimental milker, acting like she was going to hop the fence because I wasn’t getting her dinner to her fast enough.

(Insert SpongeBob gif of “Three weeks later….”)

Back on the first arctic Saturday of May, I took a couple of the does to the Best in Northwest dairy goat show in Hicksville.
Highlights of the day included:
-Getting to visit with goat friends
-Jen-Mae-Ka Kids Devon being Grand Champion Lamancha Sr Doe, and our homebred Mayday Mystery Moonstone (red doe) getting Reserve Champion Lamancha Sr Doe. Unfortunately there weren’t enough to make it official, but it was still nice to get them out in the ring and bring home the rosettes.
-Seeing more Nubian does in the show ring than I’ve seen in awhile. Ours placed middle of the pack in some competitive classes, so I was content. Was also able to get a nice picture of our first freshening two year old, 514*AA ‘Merican Cool.
-Was able to get some updated pics of some of the does. All of whom were less than impressed to have been drug out of their warm barn to attend the cold and windy show.
-And to cap it off, I was able to treat myself to a delicious strawberry-rhubarb fry-pie from the beef stand that was open for the craft show at the other side of the fairgrounds.

🤞for warmer show days (and making more timely posts of our goat adventures).

I’m working on cropping the pictures I took of the available does. The rain forced us to move inside to take the pictures, with these boys gleefully photobombing in the background. Between the rain and nosy noses behind them, the girls weren’t too interested in standing for pictures. 🤦‍♀️

03/25/2025

I’m going to start posting does that are UFD here on my farm page. After a day or so I will share the post to different fb groups.

I’m going to start with Nubian doe kids (of which at the moment I only have two available, a third may become available at a later date), then Nubian dry yearlings (there will be two), and lastly will post a pair of Nubian milkers (a 3yr old 2F and a 2yr old FF).

Other than one Lamancha buck kid that is still available, we likely won’t have any other Lamanchas available this year.

Reminder: Located in Wauseon, Ohio.

Both have found new herds.

UFD: 2 purebred Nubian doe kids
One has a pink nose, the other’s is black.

Located in Wauseon, Ohio.

Born 2/21/2025
Out of 514*AA Pokey’s Peggy, by Urban Acres GG Magic Mike.

Dam pictured with about a 10 hour fill, she was not thrilled about her regular milking routine being interrupted for pictures. She just milked 7.3 # on our first milk test of the year.

Doe kids have been disbudded, tattooed, and have received Bo-Se and two doses of c/d&t.
I am keeping their dam and sire, plus have a yearling maternal half sister, so decided to make this pair available as I can (and will) repeat the breeding.

Whole herd tested CAE negative at the end of 2024.

Located in Wauseon, Ohio.

Born 2/20/25
I wasn’t going to offer a Nubian buck kid, but this handsome lightly roaned black buck kid just keeps catching my eye and his dam is one of my favorites and best Nubian milker.
He is out of 514*AA Miss Kitty, by Urban Acres GG Magic Mike.
First picture of the dam is from last summer, the two unshaved udder pictures are from last night.

Devon did very well in the show ring last year, and we’re looking forward to getting her back out again.

Aren’t experimentals just the cutest?!?

This adorable little girl and her brother were born yesterday to Mayday Amethyst Heart and Urban Acres GG Magic Mike. Doe kid is retained, buck kid is spoken for.

I’m hoping to get around to giving the does a bit of a milking trim sometime this week, with udder pics to follow.
