Cut a small hole in the top for the no-hide stick to go through, add a bit of water (helps it freeze into more of a popsicle), give it a little stir and pop it into the freezer!! Within a couple hours, your dog should have a nice cold snack that’s budget friendly and 100% digestible!!

Did you know???

Obesity in dogs is a steadily rising issue, with 59% of the dog population being overweight. 😬

Keeping our dogs at a healthy weight ensures they can enjoy life comfortably as well as prevent major health issues from developing. Dogs that carry extra weight are more prone to heart issues, kidney issues, and joint issues, just to name a few. We all want our dogs to live as long as possible and be as healthy as possible, and feeding a quality diet and an appropriate amount of food really does make or break things!

Feeding a raw diet or high quality dry food gives your dog the nutrients they need to maintain a healthy weight and proper muscle tone without the risk of extra ingredients that might not be super beneficial to your dog’s health. When it comes to treats, using single ingredient or low calorie treats can help decrease the likelihood of your dog putting on extra weight.

So how do you know your dog is at a healthy weight? Typically, an ideal pet dog’s body condition consists of a defined waist, showing no more than 1-3 ribs at a relaxed stance (this is heavily dependent on breed), and a clean tuck of the belly when viewed from the side. What’s on your list of summer essentials??? 👀

Here’s ours!

1. Flea + tick prevention: whether you apply it in the form of a spray, collar, or topical, it is so important to make sure we’re keeping our pets safe from any nasty pests! Ticks and other common pests can spread illnesses, some of which can be really hard to treat, so it’s always best to keep some form of preventative on them, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors! 🪵

2. Speaking of time outdoors, we want to make sure our pets are safe and secure with no risk of them slipping out of a collar or harness as we adventure with them! Ensuring you have a quality leash with a working clasp, and a properly fitted collar and/or leash will help ease your mind when you take your pup out for some fun in the sun! ☀️

3. P**p bags: another huge part of keeping our pets safe is making sure we are cleaning up after them when they go potty! Not cleaning up after your dog can spread different bacteria and viruses, causing other animals to get sick. We definitely don’t want our dogs to spend their summer not feeling well, so being extra sure we clean up every time will keep everyone healthy! 😁

4. Training treats: now that it’s warmer out, all of the Christmas puppies can finally do more and start enjoying a bit more outdoor training! Stocking up on high quality/high value treats and keeping a few in your pocket will help you get through those heavier socializing days and keep your puppy begging for more! 🐶

5. Outdoor toys: balls, frisbees, and other fun outdoor toys are a MUST for the summer months! If you’re outside with your dog, you might as well play! Tossing a frisbee for them or letting them go crazy chasing a bouncy ball can help build your relationship with them as well as keep them in tip top shape! But remember to still give your dog rest days because even if they want to keep going, they don’t always NEED to keep going 😉😅

Duck…Duck…Duck??? 🤔 Let’s talk about Duck as a protein and why we’re highlighting it today!! 🦆

1. We’ve all acknowledged that it’s getting warm outside, and for those of us who have dogs that either run warm or are really active and need to stay cool in the heat, duck is perfect because it’s a cooling protein!! Cooling proteins work with your dog’s natural energy, and helps keep their system free from inflammation, irritation and/or itchiness. ❄️

2. Duck is full of healthy fats, similar to how avocado fats are healthy for us, and can help promote healthy skin + coat, brain function, and lean muscle production. This is great for dogs that have a more active lifestyle as duck provides lots of useful nutrients to support the impact on their body. 🥑

3. Duck is typically very allergy friendly, so dogs that have allergies to chicken or even turkey, but don’t really enjoy red meats like beef or lamb, can also enjoy the flavors and benefits of having a duck based diet without the risk of having a negative reaction. 😣

4. Duck is delicious!! Considering the fact that it is a more “exotic” protein, most dogs go crazy for it because it’s not something they have all the time!! 😋

Next time you buy dog food, consider switching it up and adding some duck to your pup’s bowl! It’ll benefit them in numerous ways and they’ll almost certainly not have any complaints!

Quick snack hack for the upcoming hot days!!! ☀️

Grab a beef trachea, fill it with wet food, stick it in the freezer and it’ll serve as a cool treat for your dog at the end of a hot day and a natural toothbrush to help keep their teeth nice and clean!! 🦷🧼

Happy Mixology Monday!! 🥳😻

Today we’re featuring a meal that shows how you can mix freeze dried and canned food to ensure variety, moisture and balance!

•TikiCat After Dark Chicken and Quail Egg: This recipe is a bit special because it comes with half of a quail egg!!! 😺 Quail eggs are full of protein and nutrients that are great for our cats fur, joints and even cognitive function! They also add extra flavor that most kitties have a hard time saying no to! 😸🥚

•Freeze dried Stella & Chewy’s dinner morsels (rehydrated with warm water): Freeze dried raw is a great way to add more protein to your cat’s meal and perfect for those who want to feed raw but might have a cat who is pickier about temperatures and textures. These can easily be fed right out of the bag as is, but rehydrating them in warm water helps boost the water content for your cat as well as makes it more enticing to eat! 😸🥩

•Polkadog dried cod skins: Cod is perfect for cats, as it contains lower levels of mercury than some other fish, and it still gives your cat those important Omega 3s that support skin, coat, and joint health. These also add some texture to your cat’s meal and gives them something crunchy to keep their teeth clean! 😸🦷

•Primal goat milk: I think we’ve made it clear how much we love goat milk! It’s an excellent source of probiotics that help keep the gut functioning properly, it adds more moisture to their meal, and it’s full of flavor that cats love! 😸🥛

We are completely obsessed with these fun new enrichment toys from @sodapupdogtoys 😍 Whether you’re looking for a way to slow your dog down during meal time, wanting to give them something to do while you clean the house, or help them get over bath time fears, we’ve got what you need! Slow feeders: great for encouraging your dog to slow down while they’re eating to prevent vomiting or other digestive issues. Also stimulates their mind as they eat! 🍽️ Flower pot: these are perfect for those days where you aren’t able to get outside for your morning walk but still want to give them some sort of enrichment!
