It is with an Extremely heavy heart that we must announce the passing of our beloved Malinda. This is a complete shock as she was finally free from cancer and was looking forward to the future. Unfortunately, Malinda did not have life insurance and leaves her daughter Crystal to try and handle her services needed. Please, if you can donate , even in the smallest amount, it is appreciated. If you can't, please send prayers and love. Thank you all.

Hello to our wonderful clientele! We would like to address an upcoming change.
Bark O The Bay would like to inform all of you that we will be closing our doors permanently April 30th 2024. This was not a decision made lightly or on a whim. I realize the impact this will have and honestly, my heart breaks at the thought of leaving. So many of you have become extension of family. I will miss you terribly. If only I could take you all with me. Thank you for opening your hearts to me and allowing me to be a part of your lives and your pups. The trust you put in Malinda, Jennie and myself to provide the best in care has been amazing. Our community here has been and is the absolute best and I will carry you all with me. Jennie will be making her last day Friday March 29th and will no longer be available for grooming in shop, however she may be available for grooming at your home. I also have another groomer lined up for those that need to continue their regular scheduled groomings. She is someone whom I trust to carry on the love and quality that I strive for. I will be posting my recommendations shortly. Malinda, Jennie and I will miss you all greatly. That being said, until April 30th, I will enjoy spending time and loving on our sweet pups! If there is any concern or questions, please feel free to text or message me. My love to all of you❤️

***Concerning the Mystery Illness in Dogs***
We at Bark O The Bay Pet Salon are continuing to monitor the mystery illness as updates are provided. It is important to us that our clients are kept safe and healthy. We will not accept dogs without FULL vaccinations as has always been our policy:THIS INCLUDES INFLUENZA AND BORDATELLA. If your pet presents itself with symptoms of being ill, your appointment will be canceled and veterinary care is recommended. No call/No show fees WILL NOT be applied in these cases.
So far, there are NO confirmed cases in the state of Mississippi. Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association has not released a public statement yet regarding this particular illness. We continue to watch for updated information.
What we do know is that the illness is spread much like Covid-19 in people. It particularly affects the respiratory system and presents much like kennel cough and/or influenza. Symptoms to look for are:
Nasal or Eye Discharge
Coughing, sneezing or wheezing
Fever
Lethargy
Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing
Inflammation of trachea
Dehydration
Loss of Appetite
Weight loss
Pets with underlying health issues are at higher risk for Tracheobronchitis, chronic or acute pneumonia and even death.
Ways of protecting your pet include:
1. Make sure you're pet is up to date on All vaccinations including Bordatella, Parainfluenza and Canine Influenza.
2. Avoid contact with unfamiliar dogs and or dogs who appear to be I'll.
3. Avoid boarding your dog(if possible) with a high number of other dogs.
4. Steer clear of dog parks, day care, and grooming establishments where respiratory illnesses have been diagnosed in your community.
5. Monitor your dog for signs of infection/illness and contact a vet as soon as possible if symptoms occur.
6. Learn to count your pets respiratory rate. A rate greater than 40 breaths per minute indicate a need to go to emergency.

It has been brought to my attention over the weekend that not everyone understands our cancelation policy. This has been a policy from the time I opened. It is in the policies that were handed out at the first visit. For those needing a copy may pick one up from the shop. I am also posting them here. I am also posting my Registration and Authorization forms as well as my vaccine waiver. I am trying to be as transparent as possible about any fees. Thank you for your time.

I know a lot of you have been wondering and asking where Malinda went and when she's coming back. After much deliberation and speaking with Malinda, I thought it time to post.
Yes, Malinda went out for knee surgery and therapy. It was during this time that another medical crisis would rear its ugly head. In the past couple of weeks, our precious friend was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian cancer. The cancer was found in several areas, including the bowel, the liver, and the spleen. An intense surgery was performed to remove the masses and she is now recovering from this at home while she gets ready for 6 rounds of Aggressive chemo. Each session will include two different chemo treatments. This is sure to be a rough road ahead but I haven't met anyone tougher than our beloved friend, Malinda. Any and all prayers are highly appreciated as well as thoughts and vibes. Her daughter has a gofund me set up for her as well and I will leave the link below. As far as when she's coming back... as soon as she can. She is missed immensely by all of us and I can promise you all she's missed all of you as well as being at work every bit as much. If you can donate, please do. If you can't donate, please share and pray. All are much appreciated!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my family and friends. I give thanks for time being spent with family and friends that are here and having spent time with those that are not. Most importantly, I thank my wonderful God for seeing me through a lot of this year even in my moments of doubt when all I could do was pray. I will carry the great memories with me moving forward as we look towards the Christmas and New Years holidays and enjoy the last of this year and the newness and hopes of the next. We love you all!
