Dr. Bixby has shared some amazing calming techniques that you can use to help calm your pet. This will be very useful for all of these storms we have been having and for the 4th of July festivities. Please enjoy!
Dude the Doberman was in for his monthly chiropractic and acupuncture session with Dr Bixby. He had a big weekend coming up with a lure coursing trial, a confirmation show and a barn hunt trial. As you can see, he loves his acupuncture sessions!
Did you know that acupuncture is commonly used to treat arthritis or injury but there are lots of other conditions that it benefits including:
*Osteoarthritis
*Stress
*Neurological disorders
*Soft tissue injury
*Gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urogenital problems

Jodi’s flexing those muscles carrying Millie! Millie is a Bernese mountain dog and is only 12 weeks old! Care to try to guess her weight already?
Therapy Thursday with Dr. Bixby!
We have an 8 year old great dane with arthritis in her spine that has greatly benefited from acupuncture treatments. It has helped with not only with her stiffness but also, some fecal incontinence she has been having.
Are you wondering what that smoking stick is? It's a heat stick called a moxa roll that has the herb mugwart rolled in paper. This heat stick, held near an acupoint, treats the point with gentle warmth into the acupuncture needles. Moxa is excellent for the stiffness that comes along with this cold weather we have been having . If you think your pet might benefit from this treatment, give us a call!

Panda came to visit us and Dr. Bixby was so impressed with her caring owner following through on a weight reduction suggestion from last year, that we made a video.
Picture of handsome Panda in the comments! Way to go!!
Guess who passed her Chiropractic Certification!!? 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻We got a little snippet of Dr Bixby working her chiro magic on a dog today. Watch for the exact moment she hits just the right spot and this sweet girl just melts.
We are now taking chiropractic appointments at the clinic. Please reach out if you are interested! (319)352-5732
On episode #436 of what sort of trouble that dogs can get into….we’d like to invite you to see what this dog ate. Look at the amount of carpet! The x-ray is in the comments if you are interested. Luckily, it was still mostly in the stomach. Things can get dangerous as they start to pass through the intestines as the strings can strangulate the tissue. Luckily, with the help of Dr Moeller, this lucky pup is already at home recovering from this big surgery yesterday. Look away if you are squeamish!
Well, we can’t hold them all day but while technician Jen was getting all of her surgery patient’s paperwork prepped, she entertained this kitten we had hospitalized with her shoelaces!!💕
Avery Groen Congratulations!!!

If you are squeamish, look away! PLEASE SHARE for awareness…It’s that time of year again. We removed a bot fly larvae from a 2 week old kitten today. It was caught early. Had it continued growing, it could have compromised this kitten’s throat/airway. Dr. Bixby to the rescue! With her skillful hands, she waited for it to surface for air and plucked it right out! The kitten went back to happily nursing and this was a happy ending❤️
Some educational info:
Cuterebra infection may be detectable by warbles below the surface of the skin, or your cat/dog may show signs associated with the larvae migrating within their tissues. Symptoms can include respiratory signs, neurological signs, opthalmic (eye) lesions, or the aforementioned maggots under the skin.
Respiratory symptoms:
Cough
Fever
Shortness of breath
Neurological symptoms:
Dizziness
Circling
Paralysis
Blindness
Lying down
Opthalmic symptoms:
Lesions (caused by the larvae in the eyeball)
Skin symptoms:
Lump in the skin containing the maggot, also called a warble; there will be a raised opening in the lump so that maggot may breathe
Causes:
The most likely place for your pet to acquire this parasite is in an environment where the botfly flourishes: grassy areas where there are adequate populations of rodents and rabbits. But, even pets without access to the outdoors, such as newborn kittens, can be infected from larvae brought home on the mother's fur.
