Happy news! Another puppy was adopted! Rocky Graham went to his forever home! He had double dewclaws and the vet recommended removing them at the same time as he neuter. So now he wears a cone until everything heals. His new name is Lazlo and he is doing awesome in his forever home! We are thrilled that he has a wonderful couple to love and care for him! Congrats!

"We’ve named him Lazlo, and he’s doing well so far! He recovered from his neuter just fine, but the removal of his back dewclaws was a bit tougher on him. He was pretty restless yesterday and kept trying to mess with them despite the cone, but today he’s much more relaxed, and the area is starting to heal nicely. Even with all that, he’s adapted quickly to our home and routine, and he’s been doing great going outside. We’re excited for when he can be more active, go on walks, and play, so we can get to know him better."

😽 CAT OF THE WEEK! Please share! This is "May" and she is a Waverly Pet Rescue kitty! Please share this post to help us find her a forever home! Thank you! 😽

Name: May
Age: 11-years-old
Came from: Her owner died in Buchanan County, Iowa.
Date we took her in: December 2015.
Female: Gray Tabby and White.
Coat length: Short.
House-trained: Yes.
Good in a home with: Other cats. Older kind children.
Prefers a home without: Young children.
Unknown: Dogs.
Declawed: No.
Cat Family: None.
Personality: Outgoing once she gets to know you.
Ok as an Only Cat: No. Must be adopted into a home with another nice cat.
Required: Someone that can give May TLC and time to adjust to a new home. And May is showing signs of kidney disease in both kidneys based on x-rays from the vet. The disease is in its early stages, which is a relief, and she seems pretty much her happy, normal self from the outside. The kidneys are still doing their job pretty well, thankfully, and continuing to show high function. They have her on special prescription food to help keep everything under control. When adopted, she will need to stay on this prescription food so she can still live a long happy life.
May is up to date on shots, spayed, FeLV / FIV negative.

**You can stop in anytime to meet Elwood and Jake to see if they are the ones for you! They are located in the kitty condo in the lobby at Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital in Waverly. We are working together with this wonderful vet to help save more lives. If they are the ones for you, please do apply. Once approved to adopt, a WPR volunteer will set up with you to meet so you can adopt and take them home! Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital, 2221 4th St SW, Waverly, IA 50677. Open: Monday 8AM–7PM, Tuesday 8AM–5PM, Wednesday8AM–5PM, Thursday 8AM–5PM, Friday 8AM–5PM, Saturday and Sunday Closed

Elwood and Jake were originally stray kittens found in Shell Rock, Iowa, back in 2016 that Waverly Pet Rescue took in and they were adopted that same year. Unfortunately, their dad recently lost his home, and they needed to come back to us after being adopted for 9 years. We were full so he had friends step up and help out and they kept the cats until we could take them back in. Elwood and Jake were dearly loved and cared for the past 9 years. They are now back with Waverly Pet Rescue and looking for a new home. They are both date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and already neutered.

Elwood and Jake were born around April 2016 so are now about 9-1/2 years old as of September 2015. Both are super sweet and friendly once they get to know you. They have been through a lot in the last month so started off a bit scared and confused. But after a couple of weeks have settled in and are doing well. They love to be petted and seek out attention. If you are looking for a couple of companions to keep you company and entertained, Jake and Elwood would be perfect!

They are a bit overweight, so we are working on a diet plan to slowly help them lose weight. They were briefly around other cats and a dog in the homes they went to before we took them back, and they hissed at them which is to be expected if introductions are not set up properly and not given enough time. So, it is very possible they would be ok with other cats or dogs if you have one room you can set them up in to start off and then make slow introductions.

Jake and Elwood are brothers and very bonded to each other. It is required that they get adopted together into the same home. They lost their dad; we are not going to let them lose each other.

If you are looking for a dog companion to keep you company, consider Bagel! He loves people and being around them. He is such a good boy and very devoted to his person.
