Additionally, some cats dislike the sensation of their whiskers touching the sides of a bowl, similar to how we might feel uncomfortable in cramped spaces. Running tap water avoids this issue, making it even more enticing.
Take Marley and Scarlett, the two playful kitties I looked after over Christmas. Scarlett, with her curious nature, would trot over to the sink whenever she heard the tap running, her eyes wide with excitement. Marley, on the other hand, loved to bat at the water droplets, her paws dancing in delight as if she were a little feline artist painting with water.
Having two kitties of our own, Tinga and Ellie, we've learned firsthand just how important human interaction and companionship are to them. These moments are not just play; they are crucial bonding experiences. Tinga and Ellie have shown us that cats truly crave human connection, much like we enjoy spending quality time with our loved ones. Meet Roxy, the spirited and spunky miniature schnauzer I've had the pleasure of pet-sitting. This adorable pup is a bundle of energy and intelligence, always ready for her next adventure.
Her favorite pastime? Chasing squirrels! With the determination of a true hunter, Roxy paces the perimeter of the backyard, nose to the ground, eagerly sniffing out any trace of her elusive quarry.
Despite her small stature, Roxy possesses a fearless heart, confidently strutting around as if she were the queen of the backyard jungle. Her courage and tenacity make her seem much larger than she really is, earning her the title of "the little dog with a big spirit."
But Roxy's not all about the chase; she's also the ultimate schmoozer. After an outing of squirrel hunting, she loves nothing more than to curl up on my lap, eagerly anticipating a good back scratch.

Snuffle-mat Picnic
Today was a delightful day spent with Ozark and Trixie, the adorable pups I had the pleasure of pet-sitting.
The weather was a perfect backdrop for our day, with the sun shining it was a balmy 57 degrees!
After enduring the recent spell of cold weather, it was a joy to finally bask in the warmth and enjoy being outdoors.
Our afternoon was filled with wagging tails as we ventured outside for a charming picnic on the grass.
The highlight for Ozark and Trixie was their lunch, served in their favorite snuffle bowls. Watching them eagerly sniff and forage for their meal was not only entertaining but also beneficial for them, as it offered mental stimulation to engage in their natural foraging instincts. It slows down their eating as they tend to gulp down their food, and this activity reduces the stress and anxiety of being alone.
The three of us relished the simple pleasures of sunshine, fresh air, and the joy of companionship.

Bruno was in a new situation, and I was a new presence in his beloved Mom's space. Respecting his boundaries, I maintained a calm demeanor, allowing him to observe and adjust at his own pace.

By the second day, Bruno was still warming up to me. His whale eyes lingered, a reminder of the trust yet to be built. We engaged in gentle play sessions twice a day, creating moments of joy and familiarity.
