As some of you know, we were off sick most of last week as we came down with influenza. Now we are back to work we are playing catch up so please be patient with us during your appointments or when scheduling. There is now a bit of a wait again.

Memo to all clients:

As of May 1st 2024, all grooming prices will be increasing. Due to inflation, the cost of running the business has sky rocketed, with increases in utilities, shampoo, products, equipment, maintenance, payroll and software services.

I have opened the door to a few more clients to offset some of the expenses but this has impacted the quality of my work and causes me to require to keep pups longer for their grooming appointments. This goes against my philosophy of keeping my business quaint and stress free and making grooming a positive experience.

Therefore all small grooms will be increased by $5.00 per groom.
Medium sized dogs will increase by $7.00 per groom and all large breeds will increase by $10.00. This will help cover the increase in costs.
All doodles and poodles will be increasing by $10-20. These breeds take double the time of non-curly coated breeds to wash, dry and cut.

Additionally, if you require a 'rush' on your appointment, that requires us to work straight through on your pet, an additional fee of $20 to $55 (depending on size) will be applied to your bill. We give dogs potty and rest breaks during their grooming appointment which also allows us to get other appointments started. We try to accommodate for everyone and do our best to help get your dogs back to you on time but this then can cause delays for us with our other appointments.
We ask that you call ahead to make sure we can accommodate your needs.

I truly appreciate your business and am thankful for your support in this matter.

In the UK my business was called Scruff to fluff. I have questioned whether I should come up with a cool name again but honestly, putting my name on my work says I’m proud and I don't need a gimmick name to be considered for the job. I'm proud of what I do. Not every groom is perfect, sometimes dog behaviors, safety and coat condition affect this industry, but if owner and groomer communicate, come up with a coat or behavior management plan together, the only way is up! Groomers get too much slack for trying to rectify what was not maintained for 8 weeks or more. I support other groomers advocating for animals and themselves! Our job is physically and mentally challenging at times, but for a groomer, who loves their vocation, despite all the p**p, p*e, juices, warts, potent breaths, obstacles and challenging dogs, we do it for them and those rewarding moments.

Hello everyone! We hope this finds you well! With Spring just around the corner, we expect to be booking out further in advance! So be sure to stay on track for your appointments!

New booking system in full swing!

We hope you are finding the new booking system helpful! We are still ironing out a few final creases but so far it has freed up a lot of time for me! If you cancel your appointment, please make sure to send me a text so I can reschedule you. I am booking 8-10 weeks in advance right now. I am hoping to be able to take some new clients in the near future, so knowing what our schedule looks like in advance will really help us to do that!

Safety

We have recently been renovating the parlor to make room for additional furbabies. We have invested in more equipment and are currently fostering two new pups and some bunnies!

With that being said-when picking up or dropping off the fur babies, please do not enter the working area. We would like to bring this to your attention as we would like to avoid any incidents.. The last thing we want is an accident while handling other clients animals. Not only are we concerned about injuring an animal, there are several other risks we would like to avoid.
- Trips and falls
- Equipment injury
- Sharp object hazards
- Chemicals
- Slippery floors
- Dogs being startled
- Contamination of zoonotic diseases and pathogens
The list goes on............

Any non-authorized personnel should remain behind the waiting area door at all times, unless given approval, until a member of staff attends to you. DO NOT UNLOCK THE DOOR, it is also there to prevent dogs escaping! We will not be held liable for any injuries or damage to property and/or equipment.

Fosters

We currently have two foster dogs! Daisy- Mae a 4 month old German Shepherd and Domino - a 12 month old Standard poodle! We are working with these two babies with basic obedience, getting them back to health so they can eventually find their forever homes in a few months!

Daisy is a sweet little monkey! Daisy Mae was tied to a car port all day, and from what we have figured out, had slept and ate in her own f***s so had no concept of "clean". Dogs naturally are offended to p*e and p**p in their sleeping and eating space, so when you have a dog that defecates and sleeps in it, unphased, you know their was a lack of basic care. The first 8-20 weeks is so vital for a young pup. They learn how to socialize, what to be scared of and what not to be scared of etc! So the past week we have been working hard to rectify some dirty dog habits and Daisy finally understands life is better when the bed is not wetter!!! We'll keep you posted on Daisy's progress as she learns obedience and continues growing in confidence!!!

Domino was left at the Animal Shelter at 11 months old. He arrived in a terrible state, as unfortunately his elderly owner was unwell. However, Domino was not only full of pent up energy and had no manners, but he was so matted that it caused him a lot of pain to remove the tight matts from his skin. His skin was so stretched due to the weight of the matts, that his eyes were sagging and his body was covered in sores.

It took 4 hours to just shave him. 3 baths and a blow dry later, he was matt free and boy did we all know it! He ran around in the yard like a mad man! Domino will be staying with us to do some basic training and to heal from his neuter. In a few weeks we'll be giving him a stunning poodle cut and he'll be ready for adoption with South Charlotte Dog Rescue.

WE ALSO HAVE BUNNIES! We helped take in some homeless rabbits! Now they are all fixed up we have been finding perfect homes for them! Hailey Adopted Tater! Now Elvis Bunstello is looking for his forever home!

This is great for dogs that enjoy playing with other dogs and need to let off a bit of steam! Every dog is vetted and temperament tested to ensure they can play nicely!

Day care: $35.00 per day 9am-4pm.
We have availability for collection service for an additional fee (subject to distance).

We also have a let out service now available within the surrounding area. If you need to let your pups out for a potty break during the day, we have you covered! Each visit is $25.00 For approx 15 mins.
Feedings are an additional $10.00.

As our business goes into its 8th year, we are super excited to continue growing. We could not do it without you! Hailey, Ama and I look forward to seeing you all this year!!!

I've had to contact 'Larry the p**p enforcer' to help educate some doggo owners about the importance of picking up your dogs 💩 . Especially since it's on my property.

Dog p**p does not decompose like chicken or rabbit p**p and help fertilize the ground. It actually contains and spreads parasites and contaminants, that cause other animals and people to become sick if ingested or brought in on their feet. It encourages flies and other parasites. If these contaminants get into your children's eyes, it can cause permanent blindness. But worst of all having to scrub your clients shoes because they have stepped in your dog muck is not only embarrassing but makes me look unprofessional and dirty. I have several videos of clients 'doing the dirty' because the property has cctv.

If you own a dog, you should have bags, but wait ....not one bag ..... multiple with you at all times. If you do forget however, there is a friendly crap box and bag dispenser for you to use at your convenience!

So now there are no more excuses. Moving forward: If you get caught on camera Larry will be 20:20ing you right here! You have been warned! Am I mad? Sure am! Because I have enough p**p to deal with and you are adult enough to pick up your own 💩.

Hey everyone!

You may begin to start receiving text messages regarding your rebooked appts. This is because I am finally updating my appt system to alleviate some admin and give myself a little extra time (for more projects lol).

With that being said, if an appointment you receive does not work for you, can you text me directly to my cell ( for now) so that I can change this manually.

I am almost back to normal from surgery, the last weeks and net will be a bit hectic as I try to catch up! So please don't be alarmed if your appointment takes a little longer than usual! I hope to be back into the swing of things in the next few weeks!

Lastly, but not least, I will be at the Autumn treasures festival this weekend, conveniently in front of Mary's... please come see me and check out my art work!!!

Hey everyone, many of you have been texting for updates. I've been pretty 'out of it' and still can't really talk or swallow. Mostly sleeping.
Let me just say- I currently regret having surgery right now. The pain is awful. I couldn't eat or drink yesterday. But after vomiting half of my life into a bag and a nap I managed some mac and cheese and sucked on ritz crackers.
Ice cream and popsicles have been a great relief but I can't eat them 24:7.
Cannot wait for this to be over 😭
I really do miss all my little fur friends!

Summer/Fall

Hope everyone is doing well! The summer has finally hit and it's a hot one!

In this new letter I will be addressing some business updates, CLOSURES, exciting changes and some important pet information! But let's start with the fun stuff!

I have my own display right in Downtown!!! I have been in the Mule barn now for a few months! My art work has become very popular and I am super excited to also be a vender at Autumn treasures this year! On October 13th - 14th I will be selling my prints and original art works! I am currently work on Christmas designs and gifts! I would love it if you would come and visit me!

I have a collection of generic animal prints but I mostly do commissions! So if you are looking for a special gift for someone for a birthday, a condolence gift, holiday present or a "just because" let me know!

Closures

CLOSED August 18th - 22nd. I am taking a little R and R! I will be sending out appointment rebookings today, but if you do not have appt and need one, please shoot me a text so that I can get that squared away before I go away!

CLOSED September 18th- October 3rd for surgery.
As several of you know, I have been unwell since May with a lowered immune system and lymph node infections. Unfortunately they have not been able to figure out what the underlining issue is. So not to go into too much detail, I will be having my tonsils removed and sent off to Pathology and will be off of work for at least two weeks. In order to try and keep business flowing and make sure your pups do not get too disheveled I have had to push some appoints a week or two later, or a week or so earlier, in order to keep everyone on some kind of schedule and to ensure that when I do return, we aren't trying to cram in so many appointments which will then change everyone's schedule moving forward. Hopefully this won't affect you too much. I appreciate your cooperation and flexibility during this time!

No shows and late cancellations

I hate to have to bring this up in an email again, however I am seeing so many no shows recently. Please be courteous and remember this is a small business. I groom a small amount of dogs per day, so when you do not turn up to an appointment, it not only affects my income but it also affects those waiting for an appointment on the waiting list. If I have at least 24 hours notice, it means I can get someone else in to fill your appointment. As many of you now have multiple pets, the economical damage that no shows cause to my business has increased.

For this reason, I have a no show cancellation policy.

PSA Summer temps!

During my travels around town, I see so many dogs being walked during the middle of the day. Even though I commend you exercising your dogs and getting out in the fresh air, I want to remind you that Groomers and Vets alike see so many burnt or scolded paws during the summer! This can also happen when the dogs sit out in sunshine on the patio in your yard! So please test the temperature of the sidewalks etc. with the back on your hand before your dog goes outside for a walk or potty. The best times of day to walk your pets during the summer is early in the morning or early evening!

Kennel cough (Bordetella) and Canine Influenza

It seems like this is a year round issue, but during the summer, it seems that canine respiratory are more prevalent. This is mostly dur to the increase of boarding needs. Your dog doesn't have to stay in a kennel to get kennel cough. They pick it up from their walks, attending dog parks and other high dog traffic places, such as pet stores. If your pet has recently been in a boarding facility or is displaying symptoms of KC or CI, please let me know ahead of their appointment. I am very serious when it comes to canine illnesses coming into the grooming facility. These illnesses spread quickly in contained areas and are very difficult to prevent once here! So please keep an eye on your pets and make sure to contact me if they have been in a facility that may have had KC etc. or if they are displaying symptoms of the illness.

Holiday bookings

When I return from surgery, I will be booking holiday grooms. If you want your dogs to be groomed for the holidays, be ready to book these in advance! Popular dates book out months in advance! Some of you have already booked on the popular days!!!

I have not cancelled anyone's appointments.

If I need to reschedule you I will contact you. I am busy trying to get caught up with rebookings. As much as I appreciate many of you offering to reschedule, if you cancel I won't be able to get you booked back in for over a month.... so let's stick to the schedule 😜 and I need to work.... staying in hospital isn't cheap 😂 so i'm just taking it a little slower.... my phone is blowing up and I can't keep track of all the messages. Not me being dramatic- just being honest!
Definitely feeling overwhelmed. So if you have messaged me and I haven't replied, i'm not ignoring you. Unless it's regarding rebook/reschedule I just can't engage in more convos right now, until I can get caught up.

Hey everyone!
As many of you already know, I was admitted into hospital last week for a few days. Drs are still not sure what is wrong with me but what we do know is that I have some form of lymph node infection. I am back home but I am going back and forth to the doctors because I am still not recovered 100%. I still have swollen nodes and have been struggling keeping my bp up! If you have been wondering why I haven't replied to your messages or have been very short, this is why.

With that being said, I have had to move many appointments around and push some of you out in order to play "catch up". I am trying to squeeze in as much as my body is able to right now.

I am trying to get through my list of re-bookings and will be texting you all today. IF however, you do not hear from me by the end of business today, please please please shoot me a text because it may mean I have missed your name on my list. Anyone who didn't rebook and is now due, unfortunately I am now booking into June and July. This has put yet another pause on taking new clients. ARGHHHH... I cannot catch a break.

If you need an appt and are an existing client, please text me. If you need to reschedule, let me know asap. I am so behind and trying to make sure I haven't missed any body, so any help is appreciated!

Please give me a little extra time with your pups over the next few weeks so I can accommodate as many of you as possible. Hailey is working flat out to help play catch up too. If you have appointments and are needing them to be ready by a certain time, please let me know the day before, incase that may not be possible. I am trying to take it easy and slower to make sure I am not fainting lol As always, I have the most amazing and understanding clients. I appreciate all of you and I would like to thank everyone who sent me get well wishes, sent me gifts and have been so patient with me. You guys truly are the best. I am so lucky to have you all and you really have made me feel special! Thank you for your understand, love and patience.

Some updates:

The last month has been nuts. I have lost track of all time and existence! With that being said, if for what ever reason, you don't have your next appointment, please shoot me a text and i'll get your rebooked asap.

I am proud to announce that I finally became an American on April 18th! 🇺🇸 So I guess now I can say 'WE ARE A SMALL AMERICAN OWNED BUSINESS- with a hint of Britishness.'

The next few months are pretty crazy. The hot weather sees an increase in grooming frequency. So make sure to rebook your appts at collection. Remember if you need to reschedule or cancel, please give me a minimum of 24 hrs notice to avoid cancellation fees. Being that I am a small business, each time I have a no show, it affects my income and day considerably. Please be courteous so I can continue running smoothly!

My friend and client started raising chicks last year. She's so inspirational and I am super proud of her. She's taking it very seriously! These chicks live in basically an uptown penthouse suite apartment.... if it's ok, please hop along to her new page and give it a like. She is in the midst of breeding really nice silkies and cochin bantams. She is also currently incubating some of my duck eggs for me because I didn't have an incubator at the time!

She also sells fresh eggs and will frequently deliver to me for convenient pick up for Waxhawians and Weddlingtonians.... 😜
